PCOS, Myo inositol & TTC

Hello,

Has anyone tried myo inositol to help their cycles and ovulation? Or has anyone tried another supplement that’s worked?

We’ve been trying for our second baby for a year. I have PCOS and my cycles can range from 44-90+ days. I don’t know when or if I ovulate. I’ve been prescribed Metformin since November and taking Conceive Plus Fertility Support capsules since March.

I’m not overweight, stress levels are relatively low, try to eat well and walk a lot too.

It took 10 months to conceive my daughter and, I guess naively, thought it wouldn’t take as long with the second baby.

Hi OP,

I take myo-inositol and have found it to be really helpful. I have had up to 75 day cycles and it's really reduced them. I finally got officially diagnosed with PCOS yesterday at a private consult, as my GP kept saying that because I wasn't overweight it couldn't be PCOS 😑. I have been given metaformin.
Are you tracking your cycles by temping? I've found that this has been the very best thing for catching ovulation when you aren't certain when it's going to happen.
I'm not sure if it's coincidence, but I've fallen pregnant twice quite quickly, and at that point, the only thing I was taking was myo-inositol.
Unfortunately I have miscarried both pregnancies, so I'm throwing lots of supplements at it this time, as I feel like I need to do something! I read 'It Starts With the Egg' and have taken some advice from there. I am currently taking:

CoQ10 2 times a day (600mg)- stop if positive
N- acetylcysteine- 600mg a day- stop if positive
Alpha lipoid acid- 200-300g

It's probably too early to say if these are actually making any difference, but I have noticed that my temps pre ovulation are a lot less erratic than previous cycles, so maybe it's having some effect! Currently in the TWW 🤞🏻

Sorry- there were paragraphs in that response when I typed it out!

@theblueflowers Thanks for your message. Firstly, I’m so sorry about your miscarriages. I’m really wishing you all the best!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 They said the same thing to me too about my weight. Such generalisation. Good that you got an answer though but PCOS isn’t easy is it…

Though you have given me hope that Myo inositol could actually help. I don’t know if the Metformin is doing much. I fell pregnant with my daughter 6 weeks after taking Metformin but I don’t know if it was just the right time 🤷🏼‍♀️

I started temping last month but same cycle as now but would forget to do it as soon as I wake up. I’d be up and out of bed, showered etc and then remember which obviously wouldn’t be as accurate. Once my period has come this time, I feel like I can start again fresh and I’ll try temping properly – thank you!

PCOS really is a nightmare- our chances of conceiving are so much lower compared to someone who ovulates regularly. When I get my period, it just feels like an eternity until ovulation! Cannot be dealing with the thought of all that BDing for so long 😂
I also can't help think that it is a contributing factor to my miscarriages as I know there is an increased risk.

I would absolutely recommend investing in Ovusense- it's an internal thermometer that measures your core temp over night. You take it out in the morning, scan it with your phone and it plots the graph for you. It's so easy!
It isn't cheap but has taken away all of the guess work and faff.
I take the myo-inositol in powder form, once in the morning and once in the evening. I actually chose it based on a recommendation from this forum. You can also take it alongside metaformin.

Hey, @JJHN22 I’ve been taking this for the last month and got my period today on day 66 compared to 83 normally and this is my shortest cycle since august so would 100% recommend! Hoping that next month is even better 🤞

JJHN22 · 13/05/2022 22:27

@theblueflowers Thanks for the info about Ovusense. I’ll look into that! At least there’s lots of things & options to try I guess…

I picked up some Myo inositol powder yesterday and started today, two tsps twice a day. So we’ll see 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I don’t want to get my hopes up too much but can’t help it as I’ve read lots of success stories.

@JaneGnR88 Wow, that’s great news! Hoping with you that they keep getting shorter 🤞🏻
