Are vitamins delaying my ovulation or is it a coincidence?

I am not currently TTC but have been tracking my cycles for the last 12 months to get to know where I am with them. I do OPKs and BBT.

I've noticed that on cycles where I don't take vitamins, I ovulate around CD 15 and have a 26 or 27 day cycle.

On cycles where I take iron tablets and vitamin D, I ovulate later, usually around CD 19 or CD 20, with a cycle length of around 30 days.

Is this just a very weird coincidence? Or are the vitamins messing with my ovulation / are my vitamins regulating where my cycle should actually be?

Anyone else had this?

Hi! What vitamins are you taking? I took wellwoman before conception last cycle and didn't ovulate until cycle day 24!!
It could be coincidence but I googled it and saw a few people having the same issue so I have cut them out for this month just using folic acid and my other iron, vitamin D and vitamin b tablets x

Agree. What vitamins are you taking?

some conception vitamins contain agnus castus which can alter hormones.

@RMS0209 @Yutes

I take vitamin d tablets and also iron tablets.

Also, took folic acid one cycle and same thing happened. Feels like any vitamins are prolonging my cycle and delaying ovulation.

Then I'm thinking it might be a good thing and it's making my cycle fall where it should be.

Both those cycles are completely normal with an 11/12 day luteal phase.

Iron deficiency can impair fertility.

I wouldn't think it would make vast differences to TTC in your case either way

@AndSoFinally Yeah I'm hoping it won't impact TTC so I'm going to continue with the vitamins for the next cycle too and see what happens. I'm quite iron deficient so definitely need to keep it up. I just hope my cycle lengths have some kind of regularity as my OH works away a lot so will be much harder to plan around if my ovulation day keeps changing by that much all the time.

I have had the same issue! Even with just taking Folic Acid. I’ve now stopped taking the vitamins all together as I’m now onto cycle 10 TTC #1 and still having no luck and don’t think I can afford to alter ovulation and cycle. Without vitamins I have a normal, regular 28 day cycle and ovulate around day 13/14. Who knows what’s the best thing to do at this rate

Folic acid delays my ovulation to around cd20 as well, but it does settle after a few months, and I’m now back to cd15 ovulation. Messes up my app tracking though!
