Literally how are people doing OPKs at the correct time?!

About to start using ovulation strips and have read you should be testing in the afternoon 12-6. How are people doing these at work?? Feel like peeing in a small cup daily (is there a way of doing it accurately without using a cup?), waiting 5-10 minutes in a cubicle and taking a photo of your result doesn’t feel very subtle 😂

lighthearted by also genuinely interested in what people are doing…. Is it OK to test early morning/late evening after work? Or do people just do it at work?

Many thanks!

I just did them in the morning with fmu. Never heard I should do them later.

Started several days after my period finished and when it got closer to my ovulation day (based on past cycles) I added another test in the afternoon, usually just when I got back from work.

I also never took photos or anything, I just saved them, stuck them to a piece of card in order. It's easy enough to see when the peak is!

Kitty901 · 29/04/2022 19:55

You can do a few a day, before you go to work and after. I often get my peak late evenings like 10pm and last for about 24 hours

TwittleBee · 29/04/2022 19:57

I always had to do mine twice a day, once just before work and once as soon as I got in. If I didn't do it twice a day then I could miss the peak as the peak would go so quick

doingitforthegirls · 29/04/2022 19:58

You do one in the morning and then one at night when you get in from work - some specifically state it should be first wee of the day - others say you can test anytime

PeanuttyButter · 29/04/2022 20:21

I do one at work, usually at lunch. I pee in the test packet and dip from there. I don't care what people think I'm doing in the toilet it's none of their business

Maydaysoonenough · 29/04/2022 20:25

Test at 2pm and 10pm. I promise that works!

Amber17 · 29/04/2022 20:27

I use them in the morning but have done it at work on a lunch break - went for a walk to a toilet further away from our office. I think whatever time you do it just keep it fairly consistent.

If you use the premom app to take photos it doesn't save them in your photo roll on your phone so no risk of people seeing them.

Superstorefan123 · 29/04/2022 20:37

@PeanuttyButter that idea is genius and I’m definitely stealing it! Definitely agree that it’s no ones business :)

@Amber17 thanks for the tip re Premom… that is the app I’ve downloaded! Will just put my phone on silent so I don’t seem like I’m snapping photos in the loo!

@Superstorefan123 I used to pee in a deodrant lid I’d smuggle into the toilet 🤔

Then I discovered the clearblue advanced ovulation ones that you would do with your longest overnight hold and it was a game changer. No staring at lines trying to work out if it’s positive yet. Got preggo second month of using them 😄

GingerFox2021 · 05/05/2022 23:17

I do at work without any issues. 5 min in the toilet is not that long anyway. I have a tiny cup/lid that is always in my bag. I’m sure no one cares how long I spend in the toilet. I least I don’t 🙂

BrilloSolar · 05/05/2022 23:23

The little medicine measure cup you get with stuff like night nurse is perfect! I did it at work- but with 4 years on and off IVF I needed accurate tests! I didn't wait in the toilets for ten mins though. Just dipped it and then chucked it in a bag.

Moosh18 · 06/05/2022 00:14

@Superstorefan123 you can buy the little pots so cheap! Just disposable ones! Then I'd pop it back into the packet and back into my bag, but I would test first thing or when I got home normally xx

Juno231 · 06/05/2022 09:02

I did mine at work no problem - using a little pot that came with my opks once. Also it only takes 3 min for results to show no? That's not exactly ages in a loo.

Regenbogen22 · 06/05/2022 09:06

OP I don't get why you don't just do them before and after work? Or do you have crazy shifts?

I've never once had a problem identifying the LH surge by doing them this way!

Mummyme87 · 06/05/2022 20:21

I do 12.5hr shifts, and just test at work and end up carrying the test around with me 😜
