How to pass the time in the TWW

I’m in the dreaded TWW. Didn’t even properly try this month as DP was away so only DTD once about five days before ovulation. So just counting down the days for AF to arrive.

It’s so tortuous every cycle and I swear it just gets slower each time.

I end up spending far too much time testing and on here.

Any tips on how to make it less painful?

@Charl881 can’t comment on how to make it easier, but I just thought I’d say I’m just like you! Ttc 15 months now and doesn’t get easier for me! It’s basically 2 weeks of googling everything possible!

Charl881 · 20/04/2022 16:12

@Peonies94 I hate that I’m so obsessed but I can’t help it. Took me 13 months to conceive my DS and I wasn’t like this at all. I worry that the stress can’t help as well.

@Charl881 how did you keep calm the first time? This is my first and I’m crazy! I don’t think it helps that I have really irregular cycles so sometimes when I miss my chance I’m waiting 90 days for another, so always left really disappointed!

Charl881 · 20/04/2022 16:53

@Peonies94 I honestly don’t know. I was just very strict at not testing until a missed period. Also I think it was different because I was working in a busy job then whereas now I’m WFH the time drags more.

I know the feeling that it might never happen though. I always used to tell myself that you’re only ever a possible four weeks away from a positive test.

@Charl881 ahh okay! That’s good going!
I wish I could say the same! Sometimes when my cycles are 100 days I’m months away! They vary from 35-100 ish! But usually 50 +! Though this cycle is so far seemingly a 28 day one, providing ovulation prediction is correct!

4DPO here! I've just bought a load of plants ready for us to tackle part of the garden. I'm hoping having a project to do of evenings and weekends will mean a bit less time mindlessly scrolling the boards here

LemonZestDribbles · 20/04/2022 18:44

Talked absolute trash and craziness to fellow twwers on here. It's the only way to get through it 🤣

Peonies94 · 20/04/2022 18:47

@LemonZestDribbles love that hshsh!

Charl881 · 20/04/2022 20:07

At least it’s not just me that passes the time in the TWW by reading about other people’s TWW 😅

LemonZestDribbles · 20/04/2022 20:11

Worse I'm trying to pass AF reading about other people's tww to pass the time to the tww 🤣🤣

Lifeafterloss22 · 21/04/2022 20:24

Joining in at 6dpo and also driving myself insane wondering why time is going so slow!

Why is there not an easier way to find out rather than waiting what feels like a lifetime?! Technology should be more advanced by now..

Even working full time, exercise etc I still find the time to Google the same crap each month and spends hours reading through everyone’s experience 🤣 But I do have a weekend full of plans so some distractions…

LemonZestDribbles · 22/04/2022 08:53

@Lifeafterloss22 I agree. I feel like we should just be able to put an order in and BAM be pregnant. Weekend of distractions sounds like a plan though and by then you'll be a good way through the tww 🤞🤞

allthingssparkly · 22/04/2022 09:49

Honestly the TWW 😩😩 3 DPO today. I find the 2nd week goes much quicker than the 1st!

Good luck ladies 🤞

QueenBee22 · 22/04/2022 11:16

@allthingssparkly I want to 2WW to go so fast I posted on other threads saying I am 5DPO and just double checked the app I am actually only 4DPO. agreed the second week always goes a lot faster than the first!

allthingssparkly · 22/04/2022 11:20

Good luck to you @QueenBee22 😊 at least there's a few of us in this TWW together 🥰

QueenBee22 · 22/04/2022 13:16

@allthingssparkly absolutely. Good luck to you too!

Charl881 · 22/04/2022 13:45

I disagree, I find the first week no problem then get to 8dpo and time just stops! Same with the few days before fertile period.

AF due on Monday for me so not much longer at least. Didn’t really try this month so don’t know why I’m still anguishing over it!

Hi all,

I'm 3dpo and already driving myself crazy 😩 our last cycle before moving to clomid so really hoping this is our month 🙏

QueenBee22 · 22/04/2022 15:34

@hopingfor23 do you mind me asking how long are you trying for? I was thinking of asking my GP for clomid next month if I don't conceive.

18 months but my gp wouldn't even consider it until we got to 2 years and absolutely clueless about pcos so we bit the bullet last month and went private and honestly it's the best thing we have done. I felt like I wasn't being taken seriously and I've now found out my pcos is so severe that I've barely been ovulating and have the egg reserve of an 18 year old!!!! (Great but useless if they're not dropping!) So upping the metformin will hopefully move some of them along but my consultant thinks clomid will hopefully be key 🙏 the best bit is that the consultant will move us to his nhs clinic if we do need clomid so only had to pay for initial tests x

Peonies94 · 22/04/2022 16:19

@allthingssparkly with you on that! I don’t know if it’s because for the first week I am positive and excited if the potential, by week 2 it feels like af is just around the corner and I become less optimistic! I also usually test at 11DPO so the second ‘week’ is actually only 4 days for me! Af usually arrives the day after!

Peonies94 · 22/04/2022 16:23

@hopingfor23 that sounds good! I’ve been speaking with a fertility clinic! I’ve been ttc for 15 months, but I know that I don’t ovulate regularly! Cycles 35-100 days! I think do ovulate, but maybe 4 times a year! I spoke to a clinic but the option was to just have the clomid cycles with them. I wondered how you got to have the option to go back to nhs? Many thanks

I think we just got lucky and our consultant also has an nhs clinic and said we should have been referred before 2 years. So he's took pity on us! Do you have pcos? Long cycles are the worst 😫

@Peonies94 have you been to the GPs and had all the various tests done? When I had silly cycles when TTC my first, I found out I had an under active thyroid and once I was put on meds my cycles became a lot more regular and I could pinpoint ovulation - I then fell pregnant 6 months later!

Peonies94 · 22/04/2022 17:18

@curliegirlie yeah I’ve had all the standard results, all come back normal! I’ve had cycles like this my whole life. Well reslly irregular, or long long cycles! Thank you though!
