amipregnant - conception isn't an accumulative process! If you had sex in the short wondow when you were fertile, that's all it takes - you just hit the right timing, whereas you didn't when you were trying to conceive!
Anyway, if you haven't always been using a condom, this pregnancy has taken since your last child to conceive

I hope your DH is pleased and optimistic about it all

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 08/01/2008 14:25

I have a friend who had IVF for her first 3 pregnancies (which included one set of twins) only to find that she conceived naturally before the twins were 4 months old. Quite a surprise but she manages all 5 with impressive grace!

And I don't think it's uncommon for previous pregnancies to improve your ability to conceive. Anyway, you can have a good chat to the GP about it later and do another test, if not today, then first thing in the morning.

My DCs are 6, 4 & 3 (3 under 3). It is hard work for a year or so but then it pays off in spades. Although this time I have a 3yr gap!

Egg · 08/01/2008 14:31

Hi don't worry I will soon have three under two . DS took 18 months to conceive and a lot of "hard work" although fortunately for us we didn't quite get to the intervention stage. Am now 36 weeks pg with twins and although we were about to start trying it was still a shock and happened first time and not at the most "likely" time of the month. Also have no family nearby (or friends even) as we moved house 4 months ago, but everyone here there and everywhere is offering help. Will have 23 month gap between DS and twins.

Hope your appt with doc goes well and that, if you are pregnant (it does sound like it) that it is a good thing for you and not too much of a disaster.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 08/01/2008 14:34

I had 3 under five and have no real help. My DH is at work all day and I have no family. It has been hard at times but I feel like we are coming through it though.

Take the tests to the GP and I am sure a nurse will test for you if the GP can't be sure.

fruitful · 08/01/2008 14:35

Was the issue with conceiving before that you dont ovulate often? Because every time you get pg your hormones get thrown up in the air and land somewhere different! It is quite common for pregnancy to kickstart you into regular ovulation afterwards.

And if that line is pink then I'd say you are pg.

Congatulations

FoghornLeghorn · 08/01/2008 14:38

I'm not saying having 3 under 5 would be easy but it is certainly manageable. I have 2dd's already and am pregnant with DC 3, there to will be a 21 month gap between DD2 and DC3.
If you don't feel confident with the test results, could you get out to get a first response or clear blue ?
FWIW, I've always used Clear Blue but this time I used cheapies from Ebay and they gave exactly the same result, although I do think some maybe need a higher level of HCG to be able to give a +ive.

Congratulations !!

amIpregnant · 08/01/2008 15:03

thanks all sorry the pal who brought the preg tests has swung by i told her

she sees two faint lines too

doc appt at 3.20 so i had better go

thanks for all your kind words ill be back to let you all know!!!

AmIPregnant - I really want to tell you just how managable 3 under 3 is. Am in similar position to NAB as I had 3 under 3 (have the luxury of a cleaner which is a big help admittedly) but DP is away ALOT and is bugger all help around the house

3 was a lovely number. They were all so young and now run as a pack, DD1 keeps up with DS1 & 2. Yep, there are arguements and I have to be pretty organised (morning school run is hard, but that's because I've got DD2 now), but otherwise its great and we have alot of fun.

I really, really hope the shock subsides into joy! Good luck for later

amIpregnant · 08/01/2008 19:18

HI just to let you all know i went to the doc and the test she did was neg so she says im not preg

bit confused

bought another one and did it it says neg too so looks like im not preg after all xx

OP posts:
lulumama · 08/01/2008 19:20

you can get a false negative, but not a false positive, but i guess you have to presume that the test the doc did was accurate. now do you feel like you do want number 3? what an emotional rollercoaster

amIpregnant · 08/01/2008 19:20

though she did say the two tests did look like they were saying preg for some reason but as she said they could well be evaporation lines

thanks ladies for all kind words x

OP posts:
amIpregnant · 08/01/2008 19:21

yes i was secretly excited so when dos said it was neg I was shocked again and still am if im honest

what an emotional upsetting day

OP posts:
lulumama · 08/01/2008 19:23

have a hot bath and a bit of time to yourself, and get a good nights sleep, hope you will feel better tomorrow. maybe now is a good time to talk to DH about more children?

amIpregnant · 08/01/2008 19:26

yeah I agree

I am hoping that its cos my urine was so dilute (it was dead clear) when I tested in the afternoon today and that tomorrow am I might still get pos tests

I have some more tests

stupid I know

but now I want that 3rd baby I thought for a few hours I was having!

OP posts:
Dropdeadfred · 08/01/2008 19:28

I don't want to add to your uncertainty but the test your doc did could have shown neg as it was done late in the afternoon....?

lulumama · 08/01/2008 19:28

not stupid in the slightest

now go and do the bath , you will feel better x

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 08/01/2008 19:29

Oh I am sorry. On the plus side, you've decided that you do want another child and we've reassured you that having a hatful of small children all at once is perfectly manageable.

So best of luck for no. 3!

amIpregnant · 08/01/2008 19:32

Indeed you have helped me alot arent I silly to be upset

but I am

I will go for that bath!

I did wonder that dropdeadfred but doc said it would have showed by now regardless as my last period start day was nov29th and this would be long enough? so I am presuming it is neg

OP posts:
amIpregnant · 08/01/2008 19:33

has anyone ever had posotives in the am and negative tests later in the day - is that actually what can happen or one of those pregnancy myths x

OP posts:
Dropdeadfred · 08/01/2008 19:35

If you haven't come on in the next day or two it may be orth testing again (like I know you will not be able to resist testing first thing on the morning!!!! )

Be kind to yourself, you had a shock and then a disappointment today.

soamipregnant · 09/01/2008 13:34

Hi all, this is my update last night I have had some brown spotting and a little brown spotting when i wipe but the test this am , a clear blue def says I AM pregnant - a def cross - but now i am wondering what on earth is going on and my doc poo pood me yesterday.

I have phoned the nurse.

I used the morning urine.

is this bleeding sinister????

please advise - I am upset again

GreenGlassGoblin · 09/01/2008 13:38

I don't think brown spotting is sinister, because brown is old blood. I think it's red you have to watch out for. And if a CB says pg, you're pg. Hope you're ok and the drs/nurse are a bit more use this time...

Buda · 09/01/2008 13:39

My sis had this. No AF. Lots of tests. Some faint positives. Some negatives. Doc said no. Doc said wait and see.

He is nearly 4!
