What day to test after ivf 5dt ??

Hi everyone, driving myself a bit crazy here. I’ve had a 5dt on a frozen cycle. Would love to test but also super scared of negative!

I’ve read on lots of chats the 9dpt is a good time to test, but can’t find any info on why. Can anyone shed any light? Or know some resources?

I am currently 10dpt and OTD is Monday which is 13dpt for bloods. I want to test before that so I can process it, but don’t want to risk negative but also dying to know!!

I think I remember the advice from the hospital was to test 11 days post transfer.

twinsetandpearl · 08/04/2022 20:52

Well 9dp5dt is technically 14DPO when most womens period would be due in a standard 28 day cycle. So on this day pregnancy tests are almost 100% accurate

I chose to test at what I think was 9dp 5dt. My theory was that I only wanted to test once so I needed to be at a point in time I would accept the answer. I didn’t want to be left thinking ‘Oh but maybe it was too early, perhaps if I try again tomorrow…’. I also tested when I could have a bit of time to process it before needing to be around other people.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Negative thu morning. I’m assuming that means it’s fairly certain I’m out? I know it not 100% confirmed till the blood test. But don’t want to be hanging on to hope if the odds are slim.

Sorry to hear that @Bouncytree

What kind of test did you use? If a FRER or other very sensitive test with FMU then, sadly, I agree with you that it’s likely a true negative

Bouncytree · 09/04/2022 12:44

Thanks @123walrus that’s really helpful, as feeling in limbo. It’s an internet cheapie, but sensitive to 10iu/l.

Wasn’t FMU, but 2MU as I did a wee at 5am when I woke.

I’ll try again tomorrow to be sure, but concluding it’a true negative.

Needless to say my clinic won’t comment till bloods.

@Bouncytree could you go out and buy a FRER? I think that at this stage that would give you a definitive answer even if not FMU so long as you held for 3+ hours.

Bouncytree · 09/04/2022 13:24

Thanks So much @123walrus.

Do you think just They might be a bit more sensitive? Or reliable? I’d have hoped it would show up on the 10iu/l.

If this was a natural cycle and was I 14dpo I would definitely think I’m out. Just seems more complicated!

As a day-after-transfer-and-thrice-daily-since sort of girl, I’d say that it seems unlikely at this point if you’ve had a negative.

Really sorry to hear it. I know the heartache.

Kudos to those who have the strength to test once. I always felt that early testing took away the massive sadness as it was lots of tiny maybes, if that makes any sense at all.

123walrus · 09/04/2022 18:31

FRERs are a tiny bit more sensitive and reliable than the internet cheapies. I think the main point is that you’d know for sure and can begin move on one way or the other.

(Fellow IVF-er here so I know how hard it is)

Bouncytree · 10/04/2022 08:11

Thanks @123walrus that makes sense and good idea. I held out till this morning, and did another test with FMU. Negative, which feels quite Final so at least I can begin to accept it.

Thanks @LividLaVidaLoca I read your message yesterday and was very helpful. I just needed to be put out if my misery! I knew deep down, but you just hang on to hope. I know what you mean about the lots of little maybes. It’s not one big blow. I have no idea how I help out this long. If we were trying naturally there is now way I would have!

I guess I just thought it would work. It was a PGS cycle, so was a euploid embryo, so feels a bit harder to accept.

Thanks everyone for your support. I guess it’s in to the next cycle!

Wishing you all well with your journeys.

@LividLaVidaLoca You sound like a pro at serial testing. How early did you get a line? X
