How long did it take you to conceive after coming off the pill?

Just curious - I came off the pill in November and haven’t had a period yet, doctor said it can take a year… has anyone had to wait that long?

I've just stopped my pill and got my
Period pretty much 5 weeks after I stopped the pill. However I wasn't on the pill for very long.

If you've been on it for a while it may take some time.

Since I was mid teens… 13 years or so! Had a break a few years ago where it did take a year to come back so should be expecting that I suppose!

This is one of those how long is a piece of string questions I think. I was on the mini pill (or the implant which is the same hormone) continously for 10 years and my period came back after 6 weeks, then conceived 2 cycles later. Other people can be on it for less time but it still take a year for their cycles to return properly.

If your cycles are still not as expected by November I would speak to the GP again.

When I stopped the combined pill to TTC the first round I found it had been masking thyroid issues and I had extreme irregular cycles (from 35 days to 156 days!) until I was put onto levothyroxine. If it’s been over 4 months and you have had no period and definitely aren’t already pregnant I’d go back to the doctors. Good luck!

I was in the pill for about 17 years. Took a couple months for my cycle to regulate. Conceived within 6 months.

I was on the pill for 12 years before I stopped it, it took 5 months for me to have a period then another 5 months after that to conceive. My periods were all over the place once they came back, I'd have one that lasted 2 weeks then one that lasted a couple of days and I could never predict when it was going to arrive. When I fell pregnant I didn't find out for 8 weeks because I mistook implantation bleeding for another random period. Since I had DD they've been like clockwork.
It's completely different for everyone though I know a couple of friends who's periods came back and they conceived straight away.

I was on the Pill for 9 years and conceived a fortnight after stopping.
The next time , it took a whole month after stopping the pill.

1st cycles x 2 but one miscarriage and then 2nd cycle.

I definitely wouldn’t worry, but I would see your GP, as that’s getting into proper silly cycle territory and it would be worth ruling out things like hypothyroidism. And if it does turn out to be something like a thyroid issue, easily sorted with the right meds.

Cycles returned to normal immediately. I have been TTC since Dec, and had no luck so far. I was on the pill for 15 years.

Came off the pill after 11 years and had a period 27 days later. Been having regular periods every 26 - 28 days since but not concieved. I'm on cycle 10 so assuming there is something wrong now

Was on the same pill both times!
