Just looking for others experiences of stopping the mini pill. I was ttc last year and had an early mc in November. I decided to go back on the pill as it hit me hard and also got a new job. I've recently decided to ttc again and have stopped taking cerelle. I've been off it almost 3 weeks and still waiting for my withdrawal bleed to show when I've always had this previously within 2 weeks. I've got super sore nipples, lower back ache and pelvic aches. Has anyone else experienced this? And how long did it take for everyone to have a withdrawal bleed and period? I've always been very regular when not on the pill so now I don't know where I am it's quite frustrating.

Any and all advice welcome!

Hi finalbaby,

I came off the pill about 6 weeks ago and didn’t have any withdrawal bleed or period. I am now pregnant (about 4 weeks) which obviously has prevented any period but for at two weeks that wasn’t the reason for me not having one! Anyway, I was also super confused because it was so strange not to even have a withdrawal bleed. I did a fair bit of reading around it and it’s actually really normal and common as it takes a while for your body to adjust. Plus you can still conceive without having any bleeding first, it’s just that you can’t work out if/when you are ovulating so easily.

But don’t worry or fret because it’s normal for it to take a while to return and in the mean time you can still start TTC if you want to 😊 all the best with it!

Congratulations!!! I don't think I'll be that lucky haha I was off the pill for a whole year before I fell pregnant in November but my periods returned to normal very quickly when I stopped it the first time. I just didn't have all these crazy aches and pains and it's very unlikely I'd be pregnant already as we've only dtd twice in the first week I stopped it. Hope your pregnancy goes well! X

Hey Op,

I stopped the mini pill on the 5th November last year and had a withdrawal bleed from the 8th to 10th November.
I then didn't have AF for nearly 6 weeks and It finally arrived on the 18th and lasted to the 21st December, I then had mother one from the 8th to 11th of January.
Me and my partner agreed to start TTC in January this year but then my cycles got really weird.
As the last two had been three weeks apart I was expecting the next one on the 29th January but it didn't arrive (I did have my covid booster on the 4th January) I started spotting on Monday 31st January and then on the 2nd of February it got a bit heavier but was still a lot lighter than my normal period. By the 3rd February it had completely stopped. This cycle was really weird as I had ovulation bleeding (never had it before) and also just vomited a few time amongst other things but all pregnancy tests were negative.
During the next cycle I tracked ovulation and I believe I ovulated on the 13th or 14th February. This cycle was weird as I started spotting on the 14th which suggested ovulation and I kept spotting until the 25th February where i felt like AF was coming and so put a pad on overnight. I woke up in the morning and There was blood on the pad but that was it and I never had a proper AF.
This month has seemed a bit more normal and I thought I had gotten lucky as I have had a few pregnancy symptoms and just not felt right. However, it has just gotten slightly heavier today accompanied with lower back ache, nausea and tender boobs. I have never really had bad PMS before being on the pill. Attached below is photos of what the spotting looks like. Sorry if TMI. My partner is going to pick up some tests tomorrow and so I shall go from there.

On a different note the last time I came of off the pill in October 2020 it was completely different. I last took the pill on the 10th October and I did not get a withdrawal bleed or anything. I had my first AF start on the 10th December and then I did not have another AF until the 16th February 2021. Then after that they ran at about every 4 weeks apart until I went back on the pill in April 2021 as I got with my partner. When this happened I had been on the pill since December 2018 and so I did wonder if that made a difference

So i have had two totally differing experiences from the same pill.
I hope this helps gives you answered and sorry for the long post.
