Hi all, feeling very confused. Fertility friend doesn't seem to be matching up with my OPKs. I've got one temperature strike caused by alcohol that seems to be throwing everything off (knew I shouldn't have gone out!)

I'm wondering if CD12 is most likely based on peak and temps after? Although I had a peak again on CD13, but it doesn't quite match up with the temps.

Would welcome any thoughts/opinions!

Hello @Flossyrex

This is just a guess and I’m no expert but I have 3 scenarios I think it could be and need to see your next couple of days temps to know more.

Is that big rise because you went out drinking did you say? If you’re sure of that then I would tick it as a discarded temp so that FF plots it but ignores it in your interpretation.

That big rise is making it look like ovulation especially because your temps then stayed above the cover line for 3 days after.

You have had a little dip today which has brought your temps back to before that rise so it could be your ovulation has happened today (some people get a large dip, some a small one like yours and some don’t get one).

If you temps rise again tomorrow and stay up then I think that could be it. I’d wait and see tomorrow if your temp rises.

If it doesn’t you may have had an anovulatory cycle (where you haven’t ovulated) some people do get those from time to time even if they ovulate normally usually.

Third scenario is it possible you actually had your peak opk earlier but missed it? It can happen if you take it at the wrong time of day or if your urine is too diluted. Some people get a few days of positive opks. That would mean your ovulation did actually happen when FF has said it is (but I think this is the most unlikely as your said about drinking).

Keep taking temps over the next couple of days and post your chart again if there’s a rise or a further dip. Should have a better idea then.

Good luck! Smile

Sorry I have seen you did already discard it in the second photo x

I would also say just taking a closer look those temps are low for post ovulation temps. All below 36.3/36.4 so I don’t think you have ovulated yet. I think wait to see if you have another rise tomorrow and it should plot that as ovulation if they stay up again.

Thanks so so much for such a detailed response, I really appreciate it. I think you're right, I think today is probably ovulation day, I was just a bit surprised so long after my first peak ovulation test. I think sometimes my temps seem lower as I wear an ovusense armband, I don't know that it picks the true temp as high as it would be with a internal monitor.

I really appreciate the time you took to write this out xx

@Flossyrex my temps rise 3 days after my peak opk too. It’s a little annoying because it can mean 2 things.

  1. We ovulate late after LH surge. This can happen. Most people ovulate within 12-24 hours after peak but it can be as much as 72 hours after.
  1. Our temps take a little while to rise after ovulation. It can take up to 3 days after ovulation for temps to rise. It’s not always the next day.

Just means more baby dancing to cover peak days and just days after.

(I’ve attached my chart so you can see where my peak is and my ovulation is 3 days after- could be due to either of the above reasons. It’s happened to me 2 cycles in a row).

Sending you lots of luck for this cycle Smile

@Flossyrex just wondered how things were going with your temps? Did you get a clearer picture? Smile

That's so kind! And thank you so much for your lovely detailed answer, it helped so much. You were right, I ovulated a little later after the initial surge. slightly disappointed as we didn't 'DTD' due to being poorly the couple of days before, so we hit 4 days before and the day of ovulation. Still a chance I suppose but a lower one, we will see! Thanks again xx
