We had our first fertility appointment on the 15th February. I got a message from the GP surgery saying that my consultant had corresponded, I was confused so rang the gp, They said I'm being put on higher dose folic acid, I've had 2 miscarriages within 7 months, Any experiences with fertility testing/ what will happen next/ higher folic acid?, Would be very great full TIA.

Hi there,
I asked to have higher dose of folic acid as I had gestational diabetes in first pregnancy so it’s recommended due to likelihood of it reoccurring. I’m on 5mg instead of the standard dose of 400g. Currently in 2ww of my 2nd cycle trying.

Yes I've had IVF and a higher dose of vitamin D is something that they also push for and test you for. What I will say is don't bother with the NHS prescribed stuff the pills are massive really not a high enough dose without taking 4 of them a day. Buy high dose from Amazon or Holland Barrett they are tiny and you need only 1 a day. (Fertility nurse advised that one)

Talk to your doctor about progesterone and strongly self advocate! Good luck

I was prescribed 5mg of folic acid after losing a baby with an NTD. I had a chemical pregnancy, then a MMC and then lost another baby with an NTD.

I take methylfolate now instead of folic acid.

The folic acid pills I was prescribed were tiny. 5mg in one dose.

Hi @nocheesegromit , I wonder if you’re still there? I’m so sorry for your losses. I have also experienced 2 ntds with no causes identified. I’m really worried about a third pregnancy and wondering how you’ve got on since this post?
