Pregnant straight after M/C - Has anyone done this and had successful P/G?

coolkat · 03/01/2008 19:50

I had a M/C in early December and did not bleed for long. Different people advise you different things. Anyway me and DH have you know quite a bit since. I was wondering whether it is possible to get pregnant straight the way again and if so is this a bad thing.

I feel fine emotionally and Physically but am wary that I may have been silly not using protection. Obviously I do not know when / if I have ovulated so how long do I leave it to see if I am pregnant / my body is returning to normal.

I would be delighted if I was but did not know whether anyone had got pregnant straight after a miscarriage and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy.

Many Thanks for reading this.(Ths is the first time I have started a thread - wooo!)
Coolkat X

Friend of mine did and had a healthy baby girl. Only problem was she didn't know her dates as didn't have a period in between. GP told her no reason why not. If you do (or don't) get BFP might be worth discussing with GP anyway. Good luck!

skeletonbones · 03/01/2008 20:20

I got pregnant straight after an early miscarriage, with no period inbetween in 2000 and baby was fine, she is a big hulking tall 7 year old now
if you find out you are pregnant, maybe asking for an early scan to date the pregnancy if you usually have to wait till later on in your area so you can get accurate dates?

DavidTennantsMistress · 03/01/2008 20:23

Yes I did, boy's asleep right now! I found out was PG again 4 weeks after stopping bleeding, my dates were all over the place thou - the scan put him a week ahead of where he should have been if that makes sence - and he actually turned up 3 weeks ahead of where my dates said he should have been.

so if it's ment to be it will be

expatinscotland · 03/01/2008 20:24

good luck, coolkat!

cece · 03/01/2008 20:26

Hey Coolkat - yep, well I'm 10 weeks so far having conceived a month after a miscarriage at 6 weeks. All looks well and the baby is certainly growing at a hell of a rate. Don't worry, what's meant to be is meant to be in these things.

cece · 03/01/2008 20:45

Yes the mw advised to wait for first af before trying but we have gone for it anyway. I will be 41 soon so not much time to waste iyswim. Although I am terrified of having another mc.

coolkat · 03/01/2008 20:46

Wishing you luck whomovedmychocolae - nice name by the way - I got tummy ache from to much chocolate and wish DH had moved mine!!

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 03/01/2008 20:47

there's really no need to wait, cece.

i had an ERPC on 10 december for missed MC and my GYN said we could go for it whenever we felt emotionally ready - i'm 37 in february and so not exactly with time on my side.

sherbert · 03/01/2008 20:48

I got pregnant pretty quickly after MC , i think i had one period. My DS is now 18 months old, no problems in the pregnancy

cece · 03/01/2008 20:49

That is though not sure I am emotionally ready! Mine was a second trimester mc so had to have labour and birth Haven't even had the funeral yet

whomovedmychocolate · 03/01/2008 20:51

Oh Cece I can't even begin to imagine what a horrible time you are having.

expatinscotland · 03/01/2008 20:51

Aw, cece .

I'm so, so sorry you had to go through that.

cece · 03/01/2008 20:55

Thank you. Yes it was pretty horrible. The worse bit was when I realised that I couldn't feel movements anymore and the midwife and doc then confirming there was no heartbeat. I really miss feeling her ...

beansprout · 03/01/2008 20:57

Really sorry to hear of your loss cece.

coolkat - I am 36 weeks preg, and got the bfp the month after my m/c last year.

loobylooby · 03/01/2008 20:57

I had one period after mc and then conceived again. Absolutely fine.

chankins · 03/01/2008 20:58

So sorry to hear that cece. You are very brave and I really hope things work out for you this time.
I also got pg straight after a mc at 9 wks, and she is now 5.
Good luck to you x

cece · 03/01/2008 20:58

It is nice to have such encouraging stories though

geordiemacminxpie · 03/01/2008 21:01

m/c, period 4 weeks later then concieved, he's fast asleep upstairs - 8 months tomorrow. Completely straight forward pregnancy.

So sorry for your loss, cant imagine what you must be going through. Good luck.

coolkat · 03/01/2008 21:13

Oh Cece that is awful, what you have been through is far worse than mine. I cross my fingers for you.
I have a friend at work Cece and she has suffered m/c and is going for her 20 week scan tomorrow - she is older than you so do not worry. Expat my friend had twins when she was your age she just turned 40 and the twins are 2 and a half. All my friends are older and wiser although I can not ask them about this. I will wait a few more weeks and then test.
Like someone said if it is meant to be it will happen.
I am sure my miscarriage is down to the single bloody magpie we keep getting in the garden.

expatinscotland · 03/01/2008 21:15

i'm pretty sure that a bug i had, i'll never know what it was, but i will always believe it was food poisoning, ended the life of my baby.

i started spotting the day after the vomitting stopped and the missed mc was diagnosed nearly 3 weeks later after a third scan.

coolkat · 03/01/2008 21:18

Oh expat - its the things we do not know that make it worse. I hope 2008 is a good year for you.

My resolution is to shoot the magpie!!
Got to go now DH moaning. Catch up soon.
