Can I be pregnant? Is there a chance?

Hi,

my partner and I are TTC and i'm clutching at straws here but I need a glimmer of hope. We had sex twice on Sunday and i'm supposedly ovulating on Friday (I know this is variable) but is there any chance I could be pregnant?

Has anyone fallen pregnant 6 days before ovulating? Thanks

Do you mean you had sex Sunday 20th and you’re not ovulating til Friday 25th? Sperm can survive 5 days but it’s highly unlikely and in any case, if you haven’t ovulated yet, no you can’t be pregnant. You need to wait two weeks after ovulation to find out. If you meant you ovulated Friday 18th, it’s unlikely too – the egg only lasts 12-24 hours after release. On the off chance it met up with sperm; you still wouldn’t be pregnant yet – it needs to get to the uterus and implant.

Thank you. I meant I ovulate this Friday and yes, obviously I won't be pregnant yet and have to wait but there might be a chance in 2 weeks I will test positive? I only ask because I've been TTC for a while now.

It's very unlikely.
Most sperm will only live around 3 days in the body.

I'd recommend buying ovulation testing kits. They are very cheap online and take alot of guess work out of knowing when you are actually ovulating. One month I ovulated day12, two other months day 17.

Where is this chart from? If it's just an example of an average cycle then it doesn't mean your cycle follows that pattern. You need to do OPKs to get an idea of your own cycle.

Yes I do use them and today the line is quite dark but not darker than the control line. We will just have to see I guess.

It’s unlikely OP sorry. Not impossible of course because ovulation isn’t an exact science and sperm can hang around.

If you’re not using OPKs I’d suggest a couple of months of checking your ovulation timings.

Yes thought the chart was not very accurate. I have quite regular 29/30 day cycles so that picture is inaccurate just wanted to ask for an opinion.

If possible, I recommend the SMEP method when TTC.

That chart is nonsense even if you have a textbook 28-day cycle and ovulate on day 14, because eggs don’t last 48 hours after ovulation!
