Hi everyone. To cut a long story short I work in a preschool and I am looking to get pregnant soon with baby number 2. My phase leader and another member of staff are pregnant and are due very close together . There has also been a recent high turnover of staff.
Dh and I have had different views about having another baby . But he has now changed his mind and would like to try for one more baby. Dd is nearly 3. I feel worried to try for a baby right now as I feel like work will have something to say with three of us pregnant in the same small team of five staff with one leaving for a new office job.

Dh believes he is now getting too old and said he wouldn’t like to try next year so would like to try pretty soon.

Aibu to worry about what work think about me trying for a baby now with the current staffing situation

Don't worry too much what work think. Your family is the priority here.

BouncyFrog · 11/02/2022 06:47

You don't need to tell them you're trying. Wait until you are actually pregnant.
Good luck Flowers

It's none of their business OP. It's your life.

I do think you're being unreasonable making your life choices about work but not in a harsh way, I would say you're too nice.

RedRobin100 · 11/02/2022 07:08

Yes you’re being unreasonable.
Don’t plan your life choices around other people/work/things you can’t control.

What if you put it off for your reasons above, then two more people in work announce they’re pregnant - then it takes you a long time to conceive..?!

Pregnancy if just something work places have to deal with ans get cover for. Particularly in education!

Go for it - and just tell them you’re pregnant when you’re actually pregnant. It may not happen immediately anyway.

ThirdElephant · 11/02/2022 07:09

Just go for it, OP. You can't plan your family around what's most convenient for your employer!

babyjellyfish · 11/02/2022 07:21

How would you feel if you put your plans on hold and then someone else at work got pregnant?

Just do what you want, OP. You don't owe your employer anything. If they find themselves short staffed they will just have to recruit some maternity cover.
