Mucous plug 2 weeks after removal of contraceptive implant

Hi all!

Sorry for TMI but here it goes!

I got my implant out 2 weeks ago as we are trying to conceive. I have had hormone contraception for around 15y without a break prior to this and hadn’t had a period due to the implant for nearly 9.

I had a period for a day last week. I have had mild cramps on and off for the last week and a half as though I will start my period soon but it never really showed (apart from the one day - although not heavy like I use to and stopped by evening)

Yesterday I noticed ALOT of egg white discharge when wiping with a tiny bit of old blood streaked in.

I had a shower last night and when I got out what I can only describe as a mucous plug the size of a small plum (clear jelly clumped together with a tiny about of old brown blood in there) fell out!

I’ve never seen anything like it and at first though I’d had a miscarriage but obvious I could only been around 1 week on if I was and it’s very unlikely.

I have a lot of egg white discharge again today (no clumps as yet) with a little old blood in there and mild cramps on and off.

My boobs were very sore the last week although that seems to have settled.

Is this my body just getting back to normal? What the hell was the mucous plug! Had anyone experiences this?

I did also have a cervical smear around 3 weeks ago

This does sound odd. No experience with implant but when I came off the coil it didn't take long to get back to normal. I had a bleed / period as soon as it came out and then my cycle was back as normal. Obviously they work in different ways. Hopefully this will bump for someone with more advice.

You could always do a pregnancy test to rule it out, although I agree its unlikely.

I had something similar recently, although it sounds like it was a bit smaller than what you describe my first though when I saw it was 'mucous plug'! Never had anything like it before but yeah it was pretty much like what you said.

I assumed it was my body getting back to normal somehow as I'm still waiting for my first natural period since stopping the pill. I googled it but didn't find much of an explanation - maybe someone here can shed some light!
