Birthday near sibling or birthday near Christmas?

What’s worse and how has it been made better if you have one of these?
TTC and next month the due date would be very close to my sons birthday. I thought about waiting a month but then that’s a December baby.

You’re assuming you’ll get pregnant and stay pregnant….

Lucky you if you can be that confident!!!

RockAndHardPlace1 · 30/01/2022 20:38

Whatever you do don't plan for a January born baby nothing worse than having your birthday between Christmas and mid January everyone forgets or are to busy.

That said it'll probably take a few months to fall pregnant.

ParkheadParadise · 30/01/2022 20:38

Dd2 is a December baby it's a bloody nightmare with her birthday then Christmas 3 weeks later 😄(present wise)
Much better to have a birthday near siblings.
3 of my siblings have birthdays in July.

BendingSpoons · 30/01/2022 20:41

I like siblings birthdays close. I think it's easier for them to know they are getting presents soon as well!

superking · 30/01/2022 20:41

My DC have only a few days between their birthdays and it's never been an issue. Makes for a manic and expensive month with presents & parties but that's it. I think it's very different to having a birthday close to Christmas because everyone celebrates Christmas whereas their friends don't celebrate the other sibling's birthday, so it doesn't really take any of the attention/ excitement away.

@user47000000000

That’s an unfair comment, I planned both mine to
The month and fortunately they were fine.

@BiscuitLover3678

Personally, I would prefer closer to sibling than to Christmas!

Good luck

I know. We haven’t been lucky so far. But why try if it’s not a good idea? I agree we will probably still try. I’m looking for reassurance lol.

Being close to Xmas is pretty awfully. My stepson’s is right before Xmas and sometimes you can’t even find good cards as they’ve all been put away so the Xmas cards can be displayed!

BiscuitLover3678 · 30/01/2022 20:44

Thanks! I just hope it actually works this month.

I'd echo this. My twins birthday is 3 weeks before Christmas, it's a bloody nightmare for presents as well as being very expensive.

CloseYourMouthLynn · 30/01/2022 20:53

My daughter's birthday is Christmas Eve and she loves it, it's really magical and special. Presents are expensive but we buy throughout the year to spread the cost and she has a party a few weeks before the day. Have a newborn son whose birthday is a month before in November, wasn't planned that way but hoping it will work out okay!
Good luck.

lemondrop21 · 30/01/2022 21:49

One dc is a week before Christmas and the other is a week before my birthday. Both are fine and lovely times of year!

Don't avoid a month trying based on birthdays. That's just ridiculous. Be grateful for a healthy baby whenever it is born!!

mondler · 30/01/2022 22:29

Our little one is December and we love it. Such a magical month! He came 4 weeks early though so remember nothing is guaranteed. Personally I'd recommend just going for it and whatever happens happens. Good luck x

Twizbe · 30/01/2022 22:47

Lol, my kids birthdays are both close together and close to Christmas

They seem ok with it so far.

Ginger1982 · 30/01/2022 22:53

I'm a December baby. It's not great. Everything is geared for Christmas, trying to plan a celebration (in the pre Covid world) was always a nightmare as folk were either saving or had other Christmas events on and you have to wait 12 months for both sets of gifts!

Aspidistra1 · 30/01/2022 23:11

I have a very early January birthday which as PP says no one can really be arsed with, they’re all broke, hungover and doing dry January and veganuary and used up their present ideas on Christmas. It’s just one of those things though, I don’t wish I’d never been born!

This made me giggle 🙊

I don't think it should matter so long as you get your healthy bundle of joy. I tried and don't get the month I wanted and when it did happen it miscarried. You never know fate.

milliemd · 31/01/2022 07:23

I was born on my mums birthday AND it's in between Christmas and new year!
I love it personally, always a lovely time of year spent with family and love being birthday twins with my mum.
