Too early to test? Talk some sense into me!

I am first cycle ttc for #2 and struggling with the 2ww. Ideally, I'd love to wait until a week after my period to test but I just haven't got the patience. I had my first peak on the CBFM on the 17th and first day of last period was 1st of the month with a cycle that is normally 29 days. I recall with my first that I got a positive on a FRER quite early, something like 4-5 days before my period was due, but this month I think I ovulated later than normal as I was a bit poorly around my ovulation time. Would I be crazy to test starting tomorrow? I think that would be about 7dpo but it's 5 days before my period is due so within the FRER window for testing.

I can't really talk you out of it because I am also a serial tester and we've also just started trying for baby number 2 although I haven't had the time or energy to track anything. Our first little boy is only 8 months but the earliest I got a positive FRER with him was 9DPO.

Good luck

Hi I can completely relate- think we’re pretty much at same point in our cycles. CD1 was 31st Dec for me and I ovulated 16/17th. I’ve had approx 27-29 day cycles recently. I tested this morning with a FRER and nothing. I’m going to try to wait until AF due Thursday to test again until again.

@Babydust13, I think last time it was more like 9dpo because I ovulated sooner. This cycle it was later so I feel like I'm just going to waste a test but am still feeling impatient. I'm not really worried if I'm not pregnant as it's only the first cycle, I just hate being in limbo.

@magd2901, good luck to you! Yes, sounds like we are just around the same time in our cycle. I'm trying to hold out until at least Thursday to test.

@Redstar2015 thank you

Not sure if we're mad trying again already when our boy is still so little but truthfully we only want 2 and I hate being pregnant so I'd rather get it over and done with

Hi OP, I was a serial tester last month. It was my first cycle TTC after a MMC in November so I was desperate for a BFP. I started testing from 9DPO and had a very faint line on an FRER from 10DPO. Unfortunately the line didn’t progress and AF arrived. After that experience I’ve promised myself I won’t test until AF is due. It caused me a lot of unnecessary distress. I hope that helps and wishing you the best of luck for your BFP x

Snap my clear blue had a static smiley on the 16th so think I ovulated 16th/17th. I’m going to hold out until Thursday/Friday if I can but I feel your pain! I am deliberately not getting frers in until later this week so I avoid temptation - if I have it, I’ll pee on it lol

Redstar2015 · 26/01/2022 15:22

Oh, @BlueForYou3, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. That's exactly my worry. I think I got it out of my system by testing stupidly early (BFN, of course) and am now waiting until at least dpo11 which is just one day before my period is due. If I can hold out until Sunday when AF is due then even better.

@frenchie4002, I know, right? It's crazy how long a wait it seems, when in reality it isn't really that much time. Thursday will be here soon enough--good luck with testing!

@Redstar2015 Thank you Flowers

Keep us updated, I hope you get your BFP!

Redstar2015 · 27/01/2022 09:54

Thanks, @BlueForYou3, I will! I'm not sure if I should test Sunday or later, as normally my cycle is 29 days but I think I ovulated later than normal as I was sick with covid just before then, so suspect I might be slightly longer as I have had cycles (though rare) as long as 31 days.

@magd2901, how did you get on? Any luck today?
