Did the COVID vaccination affect your cycle?

Hi ladies, I’m in a bit of a dilemma of to boost or not to boost and I am wondering if anyone else has had difficulties with their cycle after the vaccination?

I had my 2nd vaccine 5 months ago and have not had a normal cycle since. I was regular 32 days with med-heavy bleeding normally.

Cycle 1 - 45 days +15 than normal, heavier bleeding
Cycle 2 - 42 days +12 than normal, heavier bleeding
Cycle 3 - 43 days +13 than normal, heavier bleeding
Cycle 4 - 29 days light spotting no ‘period’, never had this in my life
Went to the drs here and he found an ovarian cyst. Had an internal scan (sorry don’t know the name) nothing else of concern.
Cycle 5 - extremely heavy bleeding, clotting through my tampon. Faint and dizzy. Also never had this much blood in my life.
Cycle 6 - my current cycle, unusual white creamy watery discharge (sorry tmi) throughout my whole cycle, no ewcm which I usually have.

I’m just at a loss now, I want to be safe and protect others but I’m so scared it has affected my body and I want to get pregnant.

I also haven’t had a normal cycle since my second vaccination, I’ve decided I’m not getting my booster as I don’t want it to further affect anything for me, sounds selfish but at this point I’m not even that bothered x

MummyMe87 · 24/01/2022 07:12

Yeah for maybe 1 or 2 cycles. I had a coil in at the time so was difficult to assess. But I think was only the 1st vaccine and booster, booster delayed ovulation so my cycle was a few days longer. Actually getting covid did the exact same thing though

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 24/01/2022 08:36

It's effected me too. For about 4/5 cycles. I've decided not to boost either. I'm in early pregnancy (a natural after ivf to conceive our DS) and I don't want booster for that reason.

squishee · 24/01/2022 08:54

Not a problem for me, but ever since my first jab my period has arrived a day later than it used to. Jasmine pill, AZ x2 and booster.
I told my doctor/vaccinator and she had not heard similar from any other patients. Even though I've read numerous reports of cycle disruption, on here and elsewhere.

Cupcakee · 24/01/2022 09:11

Thank you for your responses. It’s really good to hear I’m not alone. I think I’m siding on not getting the booster for now and I hope things go back to normal soon and we all get our BFPs 🤞🏻

Hi there, I had the booster on 23rd Dec and currently on my longest cycle so far. I didn't ovulate until day 27 (I do have long cycles but normally ovulate day 19 or 20). If not pregnant this month definitely expecting a worse period due to the amount of time. I didn't notice any changes after my first vaccines but had the AZ then and Pfizer as my booster.

I do think the booster can affect things, and seems to have in my case, so definitely worth thinking about x

irishfarmer · 24/01/2022 12:59

I had a really long cycles after my 2nd shot but got pregnant then had my booster at 10 weeks pregnant.

Whatinthename20 · 24/01/2022 13:55

If anything, these vaccines have made my cycles shorter. Anyone else?

HellsBellsK · 24/01/2022 14:09

First two Pfizer nothing changed.
Had the booster moderna in December, we decided to start trying for number 3. Period was 5 days late.
This is our second month and I have been spotting (brown) for the last week and having light cramps. Never really have this and definitely not this long, period is due around now. But think she will turn up by the end of the day as I have cramps as well.
No idea what's going on.

Rosepot · 24/01/2022 14:28

Have you taken a test yet? That sounds very like implantation bleeding. I had cramps when I was pregnant too before missed period. Milder than pms cramps.

gelatodipistacchio · 24/01/2022 14:28

No

Chanel05 · 24/01/2022 14:39

After my second vaccine I had a 35 day cycle (my cycle is usually 29-31 days) and the cycle after that I had a 22 day cycle! 🙈

I had covid in December and I'm on cd21 with my 10th flashing smiley! 😬. I've had watery cm for days so surely I will ovulate eventually? 😂

Seconding that you should try a test if you haven’t already!

Took a test negative and now heavy bleeding so I'm out.

Fingers crossed for next cycle!

WafflesOrIceCream · 24/01/2022 21:21

The AZ vaccine messed my cycle up.😩

Loz2467 · 04/10/2022 20:43

Hi everyone.

how did you all get on? I’m still TTC since my miscarriage in feb 2021 and I’m still having a dull week of brown spotting before my period since my covid vaccine in July 2021 😞

Sassy31 · 04/10/2022 20:53

After the second jab I started having 2 periods a months. I have a period every 12/14 days. Very painful & very heavy for 7 days or more . So so annoying , as I find it so debilitating as it’s so painful. It’s been over a year now, and it’s not eased up. I’ve been for all manner of testing and I’ve now been told it’s very likely linked to the vaccine. Nothing can be done for me . I only grateful I’ve already had my children.

HighlandCowbag · 04/10/2022 21:01

I was only thinking about this issue this week. When I had the 2nd and 3rd vaccine it really messed with my cycle. An extra one mid cycle. Then we had covid and same thing, an extra period mid cycle and spotting mid cycle as well just to add to the joy.

Suspect we had covid 2 weeks ago, didn't test as was only afterwards when I thought 'oh yeah possible covid', then had the extra period mid cycle.

I'm past tcc, possibly peri but it's an unwanted potential side effect for sure. And also will be due boosters soon so another consideration for women who are unsure.

Phrenologistsfinger · 04/10/2022 21:04

No but then I always booked my vaccines for days 1-2 of my cycle, a time it was least likely to affect things.

squishee · 05/10/2022 09:18

Ooh a resurrected thread! Since my post in January this year my period / breakthrough (on pill) has not budged at all, so is still a day later than it was for years and years up to my first covid jab.

Chlo1995 · 07/10/2022 10:33

I ended up having my booster as we needed it for where we were going on holiday a few weeks ago, I’d just kinda decided it’s clearly not happening for us for a while so we wanted something to enjoy…

my periods are now varying between 24-36 days, we’ve been referred to a fertility clinic as we’ve been trying for 18 months now with nothing and have our appointment in December , so hopefully we’ll get some sort of answers there!x

Loz2467 · 07/10/2022 12:08

It’s such a shame it’s affected so many people.

i always had mine done on cycle day 2 etc hoping it wouldn’t affect anything but it still has.

@Chlo1995 sorry to hear yours still haven’t regulated. My ovulation day etc is the same each month as it was but then just the spotting from 7 days post ovulation which is surely stopping implantation. I’ve been under a private fertility clinic since January now. Tried a few different things to conceive but not successful after getting pregnant naturally twice so I feel worried now. It literally only started happening the month of the vaccine - the Dr said it could be my immune response but I don’t understand how 15 months later it’s still happening.

Mummyme87 · 07/10/2022 20:12

I’ve been thinking about this again, my 4th vaccine is due and I’m just not sure. I don’t think I’ll get it whilst ttc. My cycles feel like they’ve just regulated, from ovulation varying over 5-6days it’s now CD12 or CD13 and I’ve been ttc #3 for almost a year now with no success. Previously DS1 was not planned, DS2 took 6months and next pregnancy was unplanned, had sex once that month… was an ectopic in the end.

just think I don’t want to mess with cycles anymore. Who knows if it was the vaccines, could have been just having covid a few times, or after having a mirena coil. But don’t want the risk. Had covid end of July and ONS say I have higher antibody level so feel reasonably covered

RightsHoarder · 07/10/2022 20:15

It made my period start 10 days early, both times, really heavy. It really freaked me out and I reported on the yellow card scheme.

CookPassBabtridge · 08/10/2022 00:06

Yes it delayed all 3 times, by a few weeks.
