Hi all,

This is my first post so sorry for any stupid questions!
We're TTC our first, currently on cycle 5.

I'm struggling to understand my OPK readings. For cycles 1-4 I used the expensive clearblue tests but no luck, so I wondered if I'd be better off with the cheapies. We're also trying the SMEP this cycle (as best we can).

My cycle is usually 32 days, with the apps advising O on cycle day 22.

I've attached a picture of this cycles OPKs so far, any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

@IslandGirl27 sorry for the late reply been unusually busy with work
I've been trying from September after my chemical pregnancy in July
This is my first month using OPKs so fingers crossed.
I was initially trying for 6 months before my chemical but looking back I know I was missing my ovulation day as I was going by CD14 & it's clear I ovulate earlier lol
We'll see what that month brings for us 🥰xx

IslandGirl27 · 11/01/2022 12:39

@GingerbreadTM

We started TTC in September after our wedding in August. Looking back I wish we'd started earlier had I known how long it was going to take!

Fingers crossed we both get good news this cycle! X

Hi hope you don’t mind me jumping in.
I’ve been doing the Amazon cheapies and adding them into Premom and these are todays, I’ve not got and EWCM would you DTD anyway just to make sure?
I’m also on Flo but that’s saying I’ll ovulate Friday which will be day 14.
I’m pretty new to this, came off the pill in oct, nov I never reached a peak and last month I didn’t ovulate at all but I did have covid and I know coming off the pill can take time to regulate.

@Samthenanny
I'd definitely DTD tonight if you can!

It's recommended to DTD on the days leading up to your peak, on the day of your peak and the day after if you can! Good luck x

Thank you.
Yeah we dtd a bit over the weekend, night off last night but will do so tonight and hopefully tomorrow if I get home before DH falls asleep.

Do you always get EWCM?

I never thought so much thought would go into making a baby it’s so not like in the movies when you get pregnant straight away hahaha

IslandGirl27 · 11/01/2022 18:52

@Samthenanny Haha I know exactly what you mean about the movies haha!

I never ever really get any EWCM, I'm hoping it don't affect us too badly, we use preseed every time we DTD in the hopes that helps!

Do you get a lot?

OP posts:
Samthenanny · 11/01/2022 21:50

Last month nothing, previous 2 months yeah I got a 50p sized blob but nothing this month just normal I’d say. I’ve read so much about it and its very 50/50 if people get it.

Pressed, what’s that?

How long have you been trying?

IslandGirl27 · 12/01/2022 08:58

Preseed is a lubricant you use when DTD in order to mimic the characteristics of fertile CM.
We started using it because I was so worried I wasn't getting any EWCM! We'll see if it helps haha.

We got married in August, started trying casually in September but really started in Nov/December. This will be my 5th cycle without any contraception so I'm just praying this is the one.

How about you, how long?

Samthenanny · 12/01/2022 14:50

If we’re not successful this month I’ll get some, thanks Smile

Since the day I stopped the pill we’ve been actively trying so this will be cycle 3, I find it extremely hard being patient and waiting for it to happen and have had to tell myself to relax this month, which is hard.

Fingers crossed for you

IslandGirl27 · 12/01/2022 15:21

@Samthenanny Good luck to you!

Are your cycles usually regular? X

OP posts:
Samthenanny · 12/01/2022 16:27

Thank you.

Yeah they seem to be so far, they’re between 25-27 days with a 3 day period which I remember having way back when not on birth control. I did worry they’d take a while to get into a rhythm as I’ve been on the pill for 10 years with no periods but thankfully it’s happened quickly which was a relief.

How about yours?

IslandGirl27 · 12/01/2022 16:54

Yeah mine are usually pretty regular around the 32 day mark. I think that means we'll be due AF around the same time! Hopefully she doesn't come for either of us! Smile

No peak yet on my sticks and I’m CD 14. Dissapointed. Unless, it will peak suddenly, to my, surprise, which is hard to believe.

IslandGirl27 · 12/01/2022 20:36

@GingerFox2021 Look at mine! On this thread, was low in the evening of CD13 and then by 1.30pm the next day I had my peak.

It can be as quick as that so I would keep testing! Don't lose hope!

OP posts:
Samthenanny · 12/01/2022 21:28

I’ll keep everything crossed for us

Samthenanny · 12/01/2022 21:30

It really can peak anytime. I normally do 2 a day one about 10-11 then again 2-4 but I always try to hold my wee for at least 3hrs and limit liquids.

lakejupiter · 12/01/2022 21:41

@GingerFox2021 it can peak any time - we produce LH throughout the month anyway. Some months mine builds up gradually to a peak, some months it goes up and down. I usually peak on CD16 but on CD15 it can still look super low.

GingerFox2021 · 19/01/2022 21:09

Can’t believe, Ladies, my opks started going up on CD21! I don’t think I’ve ever DTD that late in the cycle.

IslandGirl27 · 19/01/2022 21:41

@GingerFox2021 that's good news though! Could explain why you haven't had a BFP yet!

OP posts:
GingerFox2021 · 20/01/2022 11:40

@IslandGirl27 by the end of CD21 my opks blew my mind away 😆. Couldn’t believe and was happy as a child 🤦‍♀️
How are doing?

IslandGirl27 · 20/01/2022 12:26

@GingerFox2021
I'm baffled this cycle. Moved from the clear blue advanced to the cheaper OPKs but it's given such a different O day, so god knows this cycle!

I'm apparently 11DPO but I did a FRER test yesterday and it was a BFN! Sad

How are you feeling?

OP posts:
GingerFox2021 · 20/01/2022 17:19

@IslandGirl27 I think it’s a good idea to try both CB and cheaper opks at the same time for few months. Just to understand/see/compare what they both show.
How I’m feeling… stressed and hopeful at the same time. Mixed feelings. Although getting tired. That’s why I have just started Reflexology - to calm me down, relax and take my mind away to somewhere else. Stress is not helping.
