The Pill, symptoms, possible pregnancy? Dates?

Hi all,

Firstly, I know eventually I need to test but don't have the courage.

I'm on the contraceptive pill, however changed pills around 12 days ago.
Basically I was taking a pill for 3 weeks but it was bad for my skin, so I switched. I had a week break and then started my new one (not sure if this is ok or it is where I went wrong?). I did not have a bleed on my week break but believe this can happen?

I've been on the new pill 12 days. However 10 days ago I started feeling very nauseous, couldn't eat properly, certain foods made me want to be sick. I'm also breathless, having hot flushes and having light headed spells. 5 days ago I started with the very sore breasts.

These are all symptoms experienced in early pregnancy and feel the same as I have when pregnant (been preg 4 times- 2 DC, 2 losses). However, they are also all common side effects of starting a new pill. Part of me thinks I shouldn't be preg, as I've been taking the pill but I'm also concerned incase I've gone wrong somewhere.

The nausea has now mostly eased, so maybe the pill is settling into my system. However, I still have sore breasts. I also have some pulling and twinges in my lower abdomen, which I get when pregnant.

I will at some point do a test but at the moment I'm not strong enough to face it!
If I was preg, I also have no idea of dates. I've had 11 days of symptoms, so would think around 5 weeks but I didn't have a breakthrough bleed on my pill previously, so maybe longer? Been on the pill 5 months now in total, so no idea about my dates and periods!
Anyone been in a similar situation?

Not exactly the same, but when I was on the pill, I remember missing 2 days and was convinced I was pregnant!
I was nauseous for about 3 weeks, huge sore breasts lol cramps, funny taste in my mouth. All symptoms of pregnancy but negative tests. Put it down to the 2 missing pills so basically starting again. My symptoms eventually disappeared. This was on desogesteral (cerazette) if this helps

Take a test now. If it’s negative and you’re still having symptoms take another test in 2 weeks time. That should cover it. Even if you conceived today, a test in 2 weeks time would pick that up. So if both tests come back negative it’s safe to assume you’re not pregnant.

And if the test today or tomorrow comes back positive you’d want a scan fairly quickly to determine dates.

I had the same symptoms for 5 weeks on the pill. Do a pregnancy test anyway, and if it's negative do another in a couple of weeks.

Ah thank you all. I'm probably just worrying needlessly then. It sounds as though it's just the Pill messing with my hormones. Hopefully it'll settle in time.

Did anyone else get the vivid dreams on the Pill? I'm currently having really vivid dreams every night!

My dreams were terrifying on the pill, even the not scary ones shook me up! If it continues to cause you grief speak to your GP or whoever prescribed them and ask for a different brand or type.
