Is this a faint line on a Tesco test?

Okay so this month my period was on the 25th December. On the 26th I started spotting and continued to spot until the 1st January. It never developed into a full period which concerned me so I took a test. It would have been around 16dpo when I took this test, I am now 17dpo.

I took the test last night after a 4 hour hold. It was only a cheap Tesco one as I wasn't expecting to actually see anything, and I didn't initially. I'll attach a photo of what it looked like after about 5-10 minutes (second photo).

A couple of hours later I went to bed and checked it again, only to find a faint line (first photo). I turned up the saturation and it was blue, I also inverted the picture and it came up clearly orange.

Now I know Tesco tests aren't the most reliable and I've absolutely had evaps before but NEVER have I had a blue line appear, even after the time limit. So what's everyone's opinions? Should I be freaking out and going out to buy a FRER or not lol?

First sentence is meant to say my period was due on the 25th* not that it actually started then

Get a digital clearblue that will tell you for sure

christmascharade · 03/01/2022 09:33

I think I can see a faint line in the first one.

Yes, get a FRER, I would.

I wouldn't bother with a digital, they're not as responsive as FRER I don't think, so you're just paying to see the result in words instead of lines, but it may not pick it up yet.

hereforthefood · 03/01/2022 09:34

@Relaxing2 thank you, I will definitely be getting a digital soon. I'm worried that, considering how faint this line is, that it'll come up negative and I'll have wasted it though so I'll probably wait a few days. Just thinking if a more sensitive test would show up today because I. Need. To. Know. Ifygm

@christmascharade omg I'm so nervous! I'm going to go buy a FRER today I think. I've never had a positive before!!

Get a digital but dip it instead of using midstream but I found out on Tesco tests with both my babies and they were similar to yours I've attached pic so I would say positive but test again to be sure'

I can see a line on the first one!

hereforthefood · 03/01/2022 10:13

@Daisysandviolets omg yours looks just like mine! How long did it take after this point for you to get an undeniable positive, if you don't mind my asking?

@andtime thank you! Glad I'm not going crazy. I convince myself there's a line most months so it feels good to be validated!

Hey OP, I wouldn’t believe any lines outside the time window provided on the box. I’ve seen neg results look positive.

You could try the Clearblue early digital test. It’s more sensitive than other digital tests.

Good luck Flowers

hereforthefood · 03/01/2022 11:08

@LittleWins thank you for your input. I am on the fence about it all because the line did appear after the time limit. You're right that I should just do a more sensitive test. I'm definitely going to be disappointed if after all of this it ends up being just an evap because that is the clearest and blue-est line I've ever had

Everything crossed for you here OP 🤞🏼 Thanks

Daisysandviolets · 03/01/2022 12:03

@hereforthefood I did another one the next day which was slightly darker and I also did a digital but the first one came back next pregnant as i did it midstream but the second one I peed in a cup and dipped and it and it came back 1-2 weeks!

Quick update: I bought some FRER's today and did one the moment I got home. Stark white negative. I'm devastated tbh. I was so certain it would have a line. I keep comparing my two tests now and I just don't understand, the tesco one has a thick blue line (albeit still faint), but the FRER doesn't even have a whisper of a line. I've also had cramps all day which hasn't been helping.

I guess that week of spotting I had was actually my period, as shockingly minimal as it was Sad

I'm so sorry x

Anonlan · 03/01/2022 21:12

Sorry it wasn't the result you were hoping for. I wouldn't read the test outside of the time frame that it states in the instructions as they can cause a false positive leading to disappointment. Good luck.

Farcry66 · 03/01/2022 21:19

I had exactly the same thing right down to the unusual period. I have never had an evap line on a tesco one before, but I've come tobthe conclusion that's what it was. I was gutted to be honest, but I did 3 more after that, not even a hint of a line. Sorry it wasn't the result you wanted

TheGirlWithGlassFeet · 03/01/2022 22:43

I'm sorry OP. It does look like a line in the pictures but given you were late I would have expected it to be darker. It may be that you've had a chemical pregnancy Thanks

hereforthefood · 04/01/2022 15:26

Thank you for your responses everyone❤️

@TheGirlWithGlassFeet I doubt it was a chemical as I should have ended up with a heavy period, right? I had a week of spotting that finished on the 1st and have had nothing since so I'm guessing it was just a weirdly light and long period and the line I have is an evap, no matter how blue it is.

Lots of coincidences all coming together to create a really messy and confusing situation for me ngl
