Pregnant following TFMR? No symptoms

I had a TFMR recently and was advised that we could start trying again, if we wanted to, after I’d had a negative pregnancy test or after my first period. I got a negative test so I started using OPKs on the off chance I ovulated before my first period, which I did, so we started trying.

Today is 10DPO which is when I got a positive with my last pregnancy so I POS and it is positive, however I have no symptoms - but last time I had really sore boobs for a few days before testing as well as a couple of other little things, so now I’m doubting whether this is real, or if it’s a sign that it’s coming to become a chemical or that I’ll miscarry.

Am I just massively overthinking everything because of what I’ve been through, and I need to remember that every pregnancy is different? Or is lack of symptoms, having previously experienced them, a bad sign?

Just bumping incase anyone has experienced anything similar, or has any insight?

Hi OP, firstly I'm very sorry to hear about your TFMR, it's a horrible thing to have to go through. Flowers

I was lucky enough to fall pregnant three weeks after my TFMR without a period in between, it's a really worrying time. If I remember correctly I didn't feel any symptoms so I don't think lack of symptoms is necessarily a negative thing - it wasn't until we went for a viability scan at seven weeks did I actually believe I was pregnant.
That baby just turned 2 today. Smile

Lots of luck to you OP. 🤞🏻 As you've recently been through a TFMR could you request to been under consultant care? We were very looked after by ours and were offered multiple reassurance scans which were immensely helpful.

Hi @CaptainSpirit thank you so much for your kind post and I’m so sorry to hear that you have been through TFMR but so pleased that you have a happy outcome - happy birthday to your little one!

Did you have symptoms with your previous pregnancy? It’s just so hard to believe it’s real isn’t it.

Yes, I will definitely be getting additional support - I’m not sure if we’ll be under a consultant but the FMU said that they would look after us again and that we could have extra scans and tests etc which is really reassuring, although I imagine that no matter what care we have it will still be an extremely anxious pregnancy.

Do you mind me asking when you had your TFMR? Mine was at 23 weeks so I think that until I reach that point I will struggle to believe that everything will be ok.

Hi OP. Are you sure your PTs were all negative prior to TTC? Even the ones with the sensitivity you’re using now? If so I’d say that’s a really good sign.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

It's not a sign either way but you know this deep down. 10dpo is still so early. If it helps you then I can share I had no symptoms at 10dpo, infact I had barely any symptoms at all during my pregnancy (no morning sickness etc). Everything was fine. You'll have ppl share that they were sick everyday and had every symptom going but likewise everything was fine for them too. There's no rhyme or reason just a bunch of women sharing their experience but every pregnancy is different.

There's no way around pregnancy anxiety, all you can do is remember your strength, stare straight ahead, and face it down because you have to walk through it. You can handle it though. Promise. Will on that little egg and take it hour by hour and day by day. I have everything crossed for you xx

@MorkandMandy yep all the same tests used and I got a negative test after the TFMR.

Thank you @Kinko. I suppose what I was really wondering is whether the same person can have symptoms in one pregnancy but not another. I know that it can be completely normal not to have symptoms, but I did have them, so I expected them again for another pregnancy.

I tested again this morning (same test as used throughout) and it was negative, so now I’m thinking that maybe my test yesterday showed left over HCG still and that I should be listening to my lack of symptoms over the tests.

My head feels completely scrambled!

Ah I'm sorry. I'm not surprised your head is scrambled, you must be going through a whirlwind of emotions.xx

You can have different symptoms for different pregnancies. Relatives/friends of mine told me endless stories about how one pregnancy was a breeze and the next they had their head permanently over a toilet bowl etc etc or vice versa.

Not the same remotely I know but after my mmc I was testing positive still 11 long weeks later despite ovulating.

MorkandMandy · 03/01/2022 21:26

It wasn’t a FRER was it OP? They’re showing awful lines atm. They used to be amazing but now they always seem to have a line.

Bellesjp · 03/01/2022 22:13

Hi @abbaroony sorry you're having conflicting results, I had a similar situation a few months back. I had a tfmr in September and tested negative with a supermarket test 5 weeks later, a month or so after we started ttc again and I tested with a frer, to my surprise there was a faint line there, however it got no darker. I thought perhaps it's a chemical or perhaps it's left over hcg still since I didn't test with a frer to confirm negative, only less sensitive supermarket test. My gp sent me for a blood test to check my hcg which was only a level of 1, so turned out that frer have been really dodgy! I was so upset as I thought I had my bfp again but unfortunately frer have made their tests so sensitive that they pick up even a non pregnant level of hcg 😞

Anyway not sure what tests you're using but thought I would let you know in case this helps. Hopefully you are just a little too early and this is your bfp. On the subject of symptoms I have heard multiple people have worse or less symptoms in different successful pregnancies so I would try not to worry on that front, however hard it is not to! I used to get really sore boobs after ovulation but following a previous miscarriage and my recent tfmr I haven't had this for few months after, I once read somewhere that after pregnancy your body is used to the higher hormone level and so is not so affected by things after, hence lack of sore boobs in tww etc, I don't know if it's true but it does make sense.

Got my fingers crossed for you x
