4BC Grade Blastocysts - should I have low expectations??

Hi Ladies, I’m feeling concerned about a couple of embryos I have frozen. Two of my remaining frozen embryos are grade 4BC (day 5). They were frozen at age 35 using IVF. Are these quite likely to fail? Has anyone any experience of these??

Hello!

My DS(7) was a frozen embryo that they didn’t think would make it it day five.

He was left after two failed rounds of IVF

He was essentially one no one had a hope on but he is the one embryo of mine that took!

Good luck and sending love!

@MrsC2019 I have a day 6 4BC on ice. My consultant doesn't really may much attention to the grades as the clinic has had success with all kinds of embryos and he says it has about a 40% chance of working. I don't feel very confident myself having had 2 failed transfers (4BB and 3CC day 5s) this year, so planning to do 2 more egg collections to try to get more. I'm nearly 38 with fairly low AMH so trying to get those eggs while I can!
But there is always a chance with any embryo that's good enough to freeze and I have seen lots of success stories online for lower graded embryos
Best of luck to you x

My little girl was a transferred Morula (didn't make it to blast in the lab by day 5 and transferred as a 'unlikely to work but all you got at this stage' she is a healthy happy amazing 14 month old. Don't lose hope!!

I’m 12 weeks pregnant with a PGS normal day 6 4BC so definitely don’t write them off.

Hi OP. Here's mine:

4BB fresh blast: successful pregnancy resulting in stillbirth

4AB frozen blast: failed

4AA fresh blast: missed miscarriage at 9 weeks

4BB frozen blast: DD1

I've heard stories though of women having successful pregnancies from 2DD embryo! A 4BC has a good chance OP, good luck Thanks

Thanks so much ladies this has really helped put things into perspective. It all feels like a gamble in some ways and I need to work on accepting uncertainty!

I’m so sorry to hear of your stillborn baby @smurfsss . My son was stillborn earlier this year and the next treatment will be our first once since xx

I know it’s been a while but how did you get on @MrsC2019 ?

MrsC2019 · 10/03/2024 18:02

Our 4BC’s resulted in a chemical pregnancy. I’ve since done pgta and one of my embryos is a 4BC. Apparently pgta trumps grading so it matters less

@MrsC2019 thanks so much for taking the time to answer. I’m so sorry to her about your chemical pregnancy. The more I’ve been asking about 4BC embryos they’ve not seemed to have many success stories. I suppose at the end of the day if it happens it happens. For us if this one doesn’t work it’s the end of the road using my own eggs. It’s a lot to come to terms with
