What do you count as ‘lots of sex during fertile week?’

So fertile week is generally understood to last five days, with the fifth day being ovulation itself.

I would love to know what is classed as having lots of sex during these five days. Daily? On days 1, 3, and 5?

We have been trying various combinations (almost all seem to include day 4, i.e. the day before ovulation), but nothing has worked yet.

Am on CD1 and looking for new inspiration! Xmas Angry

The time I fell pregnant I had sex the day of my peak (on LH test) and then the morning after it . Do you BBT? I can't recommend it enough! I presumed I ovulated on CD14ish with LH tests and apps and according to BBT I actually ovulated on CD23, so previous months I was toooottally missing it xxx

I had sex every single day between my period ending and the next one beginning and it still didn't work. The month I got pregnant with the pregnancy that lasted I had sex 17 times that month.

Animood · 17/12/2021 20:18

Wouldn't you just have sex every day?

Flittingaboutagain · 17/12/2021 20:18

Sorry posted too soon.

And the 17 was all during the two weeks between.

Maybe… some studies show sperm quality lowers due to daily sex though!

Have sex every 2-3 days every week regardless of where you are in your cycle.

I was tracking my cycles, temping etc and having frequent sex in fertile week, while not much otherwise. Nothing for 9 months.

We reverted to sex every couple of days for the month and I was pregnant that month. We adopted the same approach for DS2 and I was pregnant within the first month.

No I don’t BBT but I do use LH tests and have EWCM/ovulation pains, which all broadly seem to align. We’ve been trying for quite a while though so maybe I need to start temping. The only problem is I wake up at different times on different days!

Every day leading up to ovulation, twice on ovulation day and twice day after ovulation, confirmed using ovulation sticks.

Cheekymonkey3112 · 17/12/2021 20:57

@jassixa I was the same, I used to set my alarm for 5.30am, take my temp and then either get up if I needed to get up or go back to sleep if I could have a longer lie. I got used to it as I was excited to find a pattern with the testing lol xx

This is a good idea, 530 perhaps a bit early for me(!) but know exactly how you feel about finding patterns in the data Wink

We did every other day.

Blossom64265 · 17/12/2021 21:50

Our reproductive endocrinologist had us on an every other day schedule, whenever not menstruating. He advised not doing every day. I don’t know if he put all patients on the same schedule.

SweetBabyCheeses99 · 17/12/2021 21:56

I would do it the regular way - just have sex with your partner when you are both in the mood! It’s not a good idea to schedule these things as it takes the fun and romance away and you will actually end up doing it less.

jassixa · 17/12/2021 22:38

Thanks all. I think we need to increase the frequency. Just chatting to DH and he thinks less frequently is better as there’s then more of ‘it.’ Trying to explain to him the importance of, er, flushing the tubes!

DH is happy to try every other day this month so fingers crossed Smile

From last day of period which was cd5, we did every day until cd12 then twice on cd13. Worked first time and now 29+ weeks

RavenclawsRoar · 18/12/2021 16:08

Every other day from AF ending to starting again. I'm another who ovulates later than I initially thought! I'm around CD19-20.
