Any chance I’m pregnant?

Hi,

Cycle 5 of TTC and my normally highly predictable period is 3 days late. I’ve done tests but all BFNs. I’ve got normal clear/white discharge (sometimes get brownish discharge the day or two before my period). I do have a shooting pain in my bum though Blush sorry maybe TMI but I sometimes get that in my period so wondering if I’m just late. If you’re 3 days late you should have a BFP if pregnant right? I’m just wishfully thinking arent i? Sad

I was getting negatives for the first three days after my period was due.
Ten months later and I’m currently breastfeeding that “negative”

I have my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼

@storkstalk I think it is unlikely but…. Not unheard of. Plenty of threads with examples similar to the ladies above xxx

Are you tracking ovulation? You may have ovulated later than usual and therefore your period isn't due exactly when you think, so potentially you're not 'late' yet. I wouldn't rule anything out yet.

Absolutely No period means you’re still in with a chance

I have been using Flo for 2 years. I did track ovulation for the first two months and it was in line with the app so I stopped bothering.

I just have a sinking feeling that it’s just a late period. Sad

But there's no such thing as 'just a late period', that's what I mean. You either ovulated late, meaning your period isn't due yet, or you're pregnant (or you haven't yet ovulated/don't ovulate but that is less likely!).

The length of time from ovulation to period is relatively consistent each cycle, within a day or so, so if you are three days late then that means you ovulated (at least) three days later than you thought you did.

Apps don't know what's happening inside your body so while they can be good to guesstimate when your period is due, they are really bad at pinpointing ovulation. I'd definitely recommend OPKs and BBT to confirm when you are ovulating.

Yeah maybe I ovulated really late as still no period and did a FRER and BFN so definitely not pregnant. My cycle has been soo consistent for two years though (apart from each month after the vaccines) so this really is very unusual for me and really got my hopes up.

You need to track ovulation to be sure what’s happening, there are whole threads on here with women saying late and bfn but eventually af appears. Obviously those rare cases where a pregnancy test isn’t picking up hcg like lady above but it doesn’t seem the norm.

storkstalk · 05/12/2021 00:44

I have used clear blue digital OPKs before. Is there a better way to track ovulation?

I just used opks but did use bbt for a bit. Bbt measures your core temperature. You can buy a thermometer online and each morning take your temperature ( under tongue I think) before moving. Very important you don’t move as it changes reading. You can then plot the temperature on one of the apps like fertility friends. When you ovulate there will be a clear temperature shift upwards and then you will know when you ovulated. Most people do the opks to see when ovulation is approaching and bbt to confirm it has happened. Bbt even helps show if you’re pregnant as the temperature should remain high, when af is due it drops.
There will be threads on here about bbt tracking if you want more info or too join other ladies doing it. Best of luck!
