I’m a bit worried. I’m on the pill. But I know I have ovulated. Now I can smell everything so strongly!

Iv been on the pill a good few months. My dog passed away suddenly and I was very depressed and missed a couple of pills in the days after my dogs passing. After I realised I’d missed 2 pills i took them as normal. But about a week ago I felt ovulation pains in my right side, I then developed some spots on the right side of my chin which always happens when I ovulate depending which side I ovulate from, so now I know I did ovulate, in the last 3 days I can smell everything even my partners gold bracelet absolutely stinks of metal it’s vile and Iv never smelt it before he’s had it years and years and it’s not even made of metal its gold but it just stinks. Iv had little cramps daily. I worry something is growing in there. What do I do about my pill? I have over a week left on it. Do I stop taking it now and see if my
Period arrives? Do I keep taking it and rush out to buy a test? I’m so confused about what to do

Does this mean you carried on having unprotected sex after you missed the pill? Or had sex just before? That's kind of key.

Take a test just in case.

WheelieBinPrincess · 03/11/2021 11:26

I’m not sure you can have suddenly ovulated by missing two pills. It’s super super unlikely that you’re pregnant! More like you’re freaking yourself out and noticing everything.

Casmama · 03/11/2021 11:27

I'm sorry but knowing you ovulated because you felt some pain and had spots on that side of your chin is just nonsense- you think you ovulated and you might be right but over analysing smells will get you nowhere. Buy a first response test to put your mind at ease.

Take a test.

But missing a few pills could easily just have unsettled your hormones and caused a progesterone spike which gave you the enhanced smell. Bloodhound nose was my first pregnancy symptom, but since my pregnancies I now get it every single month before my period.

Take a test. Easiest solution. Is it a combination pill or the mini one?

ShaneTheThird · 03/11/2021 11:45

Taking a test is the first step.

Very unlikely to ovulate & get pregnant after missing just 2 pills. Testing is the only way to know!

My pill insert says missing one is fine, but missing two is backup contraception territory. Plus it depends where in the month you are. If you miss 2 pills in the middle of the pack it's much less risky than starting a new pill pack two days late.

Missing 1 pill is ok but missing 2 can put you in danger of pregnancy. Were you having sex at the time?

Take a pregnancy test if you were having sex just before or after missing the pills.

P.s. if you miss pills again you need to take other precautions for the next 7 days of pill taking (2 days if its the mini pill)

Nikki037297 · 03/11/2021 12:27

I missed two pills during the first week of my pill, it’s the combination pill. Yes we had unprotected sex I don’t remember the days we did it my mind is all a blur

You may also need emergency contraception if you have missed 2 or more pills in the first week of a pack and had unprotected sex in the previous 7 days.

dementedpixie · 03/11/2021 13:57

I think OP is probably past the point of being able to use emergency contraception depending how long ago they missed the pills

JudgementalCactus · 03/11/2021 13:57

Just take the test. I know it's scary, but anxiously waiting for your period is just wasted time.

thesunwillout · 03/11/2021 14:04

It could be too early to get a true test result, did you say you have another week left of your pills?

If it were me I'd take a test but carry on taking the pills another week till your break, see if you get a bleed.

Taking them and if you're not pg will at least keep your cycle on track iyswim.
