Has anyone fallen pregnant 5 days after their period and 5 days before scheduled ovulation on an app,?

Hi, please help as I have no patience whatsoever. We had unprotected sex 5 days after my period and 5 days before supposed ovulation would start.
14 days later I have had light pink spotting only when i wiped twice after a pee.
I never spot inbetween my cycle. I have done a test even though I'm 10 days until my next period is supposed to start. Has anyone had similar experiences?
I cant see how I could be pregnant going by the calendar. 😅

Apps are notoriously unreliable. Do you know what day of your cycle you ovulate and is that day consistent? That’s what you need to focus on and not what an app that given generalised information for the average woman says.

From the very limited information in your OP, I would have thought it’s more likely you ovulated later than you expected and are experiencing ovulation bleeding/spotting now.

Do you check BBT or use OPKs?

So... Do you track ovulation? Or could you ovulated earlier than you thought? I track mine, I am regular as a Swiss watch but ovulated three days earlier this cycle, totally random. So yeah, it's possible ;)

Bundaberg84 · 01/11/2021 12:39

... and with 5 days after AF do you mean after AF stopped or actually cycle day 5?

kalidasa · 01/11/2021 12:42

Well according to my most recent dating scan I conceived on CD6 but I don't believe it for a second! I think the baby is just a bit big.

Casablanca31 · 01/11/2021 12:54

Thanks for all the quick responses. I don't check my ovulation. I just see it on the app as a guideline. It was 5 days after my period finished. My husband and I ate aren't actively trying the condom broke tmi 😅. We tried for a year for our daughter. Its just the blood spotting 14 days after that night that has thrown me. I never get that. So was wondering if it was implantation, I never had that with my daughter.

The pink is my period and the 17th is the night in question. Yesterday was the spotting. Nothing since.

nope but fell pregnant a week after my supposed ovulation so can say they're not very accurate

Bundaberg84 · 01/11/2021 12:59

My fertile week starts 6 days after my AF ends, and as I ovulated earlier this time, DTD 5 days after AF ended could be the "lucky swimmer".
If you don't know when you ovulate, as a rule of thumb you say to test 14 days after DTD - so that would be now-ish. Keep us posted :)

Casablanca31 · 01/11/2021 13:32

Thank you I will keep you posted. I done a test yesterday after the blood spotting and negative. So ill maybe try and wait another week. I keep reading articles and they say earliest to test is 6 days before period and I'm still 10 days before I am supposed to be due, but I'm so confused. I'll need to try and gain a little more patience i think. 🙁

Ok ladies 8 days until period and got this today? I must admit I did leave it longer than I should have so could be an evaporation line. So I will do another tomorrow morning when I off work.

Yeah sorry @Casablanca31 but they are notorious for indent lines after the time frame. I hope you get a better result tomorrow!

kalidasa · 03/11/2021 12:39

@Casablanca31 though it's not that common sperm can survive for five days or so so in theory you could have ovulated 5 days after sex and conceived from that. In which case your bleeding 14 days after sex would be 9 days after conception which is about right for implantation. How long now since you noticed the bleeding?

Casablanca31 · 03/11/2021 13:24

Spotting was on the 30th. So only 4 days ago.

Did you take another test @Casablanca31 ? I think the result should be reliable by now.

Casablanca31 · 05/11/2021 16:16

I have and its definitely positive bit very faint. I am still 6 days away from my period. So I've decided to wait and test again once late. I'll keep you posted. I'm filled with the cold and feel pretty awful atm.xx

I conceived on cycle day 6 but I normally used to ovulate around day 12. DP was young and fertile at the time though 😂

kalidasa · 05/11/2021 16:38

Good luck @Casablanca31 - if it's still very faint in a few days it might be a chemical pregnancy -- a conception which fails to implant properly and fades out quickly so you can get a faint positive test but then your period arrives around the normal time. Good luck anyway: I hope it goes the way you want. One of my friends had an accidental (but happy!) pregnancy when she and her husband were young from sex very soon after her period. I think as @foxgoosefinch implies, very long-lasting sperm which manage to survive until ovulation several days later are more likely if you are both on the younger side!

Casablanca31 · 06/11/2021 09:31

Another test this morning and the same so it think a chemical pregnancy might be plausible.

Sorry @Casablanca31 it's frustrating not to be sure but when I've had a few very faint / ambiguous tests in a row it has always been a false start. If your period doesn't arrive you should definitely test again though.
