Hi there,

Am new to MN so getting used to where to post things - please bear with me if this isn’t the right place Smile

My partner and I want to start trying for another baby, our DD1 is 9 months. But my periods have been all over the place, only had 2 since birth, a 2 month gap in between them and I am now on week THREE of my second period. Did anyone have something similar post-birth and did it affect your TTC journey? Thanks in advance! X

Hiya, just checked my cycle notes and while I didn't have exactly this, my periods were a bit erratic for the first few months after they returned.

Are you breastfeeding? That can definitely muck around with your cycles...

If you can wait, I'd give it another couple of months to see if things settle and if you're still worried, contact your GP. But it's very normal for things to be not normal after childbirth!

You may also find that some changes are permanent - not a 3 week period, but the heaviness of flow, days of period, spotting patterns etc. This is also normal and generally won't cause any problems with conceiving again. Best of luck!

Thank you so so much for replying - makes me feel much better. I will see how things go and then contact the GP again if it carries on for much longer! X
