This might be controversial but does anyone drink alcohol during the TWW?

I’m interested to know what peoples habits are around drinking alcohol during the two week wait..

I got absolutely wankered 7 days before the bfp, it was nye and not 'trying'. Dc turned out OK!

Didn't change my drinking habits at all when TTC, but then I don't drink very much and never binge.

Drink 'til pink has been the rule of thumb with most I know but I'm talking the odd few glasses of wine or g&t on a Sat night rather than nailing 2 bottles a night with dinner.

Yep def, the week of conception for this BFP for me we had a few drinks on most nights as we were on holiday (off work not "away") moving house & had a DS free weekend and I tested later having had a normal few drinks that weekend, but I tended to drink white wine spritzers to water the wine down & then normal g&t's though, in fact thinking I didn't want my wine after 11 days made me think there might be something in it 😂drink til it's pink

We usually have two glasses of wine a night, I don’t know if it’s a habit we got into with covid but it’s definitely a habit, it’s obviously on my mind that this might be really irresponsible 😔

Yep, currently 7 DPO and still having my usual 2 days of drinking some wine per week!

I did - mainly because it took 18 months to get pregnant with dc1 and nearly 2 years for Dc2 - the first couple of months of trying I was totally aware and didn't drink, by month 3 or 4, I'd figured it wasn't going to happen and decided not to think about it. I didn't ever get totally drunk before, so it was more a glass of wine or 2 at the weekend.

At that point it wouldn't be getting anything from your bloodstream etc so can't see a problem.

I didn't - felt too much of a risk to me that I'd blame myself for if something went wrong (again, I had 5 mc)

I drank. We had just moved into new house and I said to DH we should drink this prosecco before I fall pregnant. Had a BFP two days later 😂

No booze here at all and we have been ttc for 18 months. He isnt drinking either as his sperm was dodgy and improved a lot when he stopped having the odd beer or wine with dinner (never binge drinking). I have lots of losses so am v cautious about anything that could affect egg quality.

I guess it depends on how you experience ttc. That's why there are many opinions. I've already given up alcohol (doc said to), and I haven't even transferred an embryo. I think if your nurse or doctor says is okay, then you shouldn't worry.

I’ve cut down a bit but more to do with calorie intake than TTC.

Massively cut down and personally just stick to 2-3 at the weekend max.

I've had losses so am extra cautious

I’ve aways just continued my life in the exact same way during TWW whether that’s alcohol, caffeine intake or diet. Not sure whether that’s the right thing to do but it certainly makes the TWW more bearable I’m sure.

I totally agree - I've had a loss, struggles with fertility so giving up alcohol is something I can control to slightly slightly increase my odds. TWW drinking is a very individual thing.

My understanding is that drinking alcohol thins the uterine/womb lining, making it less receptive to an embryo implanting into it, so you are potentially slightly less likely to become pregnant. However, if you do become pregnant, it shouldn't affect the embryo itself, because at this very early stage the embryo receives nourishment from its yolk sac rather than its mum.

I usually reduce alcohol consumption the week after ovulating to maybe one drink a day during the weekend and try not to drink any alcohol at all the week before AF is due. But every month has been slightly different depending on how I've felt.

When I first started TTC I didn’t drink during the TWW, but as time went on I loosened the rule. The month I got my first BFP I had uncharacteristically got absolutely smashed on cocktails a couple of days’ prior.

Took me 7 years to get a BFP. Drinking during the 2WW was one of the only things that kept me sane ish.

10 dpo, feeling some symptoms and have a feeling this month could be it. Breasts are also very heavy and tender. I tested yesterday it was negative, tested today and not sure if there’s a vvv faint line. My eyesight is awful so need others opinions please! 🤞🏼

I didn't consider myself to be in the TWW (just f*cked and forgot). I had 3 units over 2 nights in the middle of that window, really fancied the first 2, didn't enjoy the 2nd, haven't drunk since. Now 10 weeks.
