First Letrozole cycle - anyone else on the same journey or has experience?

Hiya,

I was on 2.5mg of Letrozole cd2-6 this month due to recurring chemical pregnancies and low progesterone.

I had my mid-cycle scan on Wednesday (cd11) and they saw two 19mm follicles so I had a trigger shot at 11am. I chart my BBT and I had a temp rise the following morning so I'm pretty convinced I ovulated that same night.

My OH has 1% morphology but a really high count so I really really hope we have a chance.

I was told two start progesterone today which would be 48 hours after trigger shot.

Is anyone else going through the same or has any experience?

I used letrozole to conceive DD1 (currently 4.5months and asleep on my chest) due to PCOS. I didn't have any trigger shots but was on a much higher dose than you. We conceived on cycle 3. Happy to answer any questions. Good luck! Flowers

Congratulations @GuidingSpirit that's lovely to hear Smile

Do you know how many eggs you released?

@Emmyanddreams My third cycle was unmonitored so i dont know for sure, but my second (unsuccesful) cycle, which had the same dose as cycle 3, was monitored and had just the one egg released.

Emmyanddreams · 29/10/2021 11:23

That's interesting. I really hope as I've released two, I've got a good chance of one of them being successful. If not this cycle, within the next couple of cycles 🤞 🤞

Hi @Emmyanddreams

I’m about to start Letrozole cycle three later today, I have possible PCOS and low progesterone. I picked the meds up and had a scan yesterday. I’m on 5mg and a trigger shot, going back for a scan next Friday and will likely trigger then (day 12, I’ve triggered on day 10 and 11 previously). This is our last go before we move to ivf in the new year! I released one egg on cycle one, two on cycle two. Let’s see what three brings but husband has very low motility and a normal count, so our odds aren’t great.

@GuidingSpirit i need some of that cycle three luck!

Emmyanddreams · 29/10/2021 13:34

Fingers crossed for you @thislittlebird 🤞

This is our plan for three months before moving on to IVF. I'm really hoping it doesn't come to that especially as I've managed to get pregnant three times since May, but they just haven't stuck. I'm now on a higher dose of progesterone including Lubion injections. It's felt like such a long slog over the last two years.
I am lucky enough to already have one child who we conceived naturally without any help. But this time it's been so hard.

Let's hope this is the month for both of us!

Good luck @thislittlebird and @Emmyanddreams! Hope this month is the month for you. Interesting that you are moving to IVF after 3 cycles - im S London and after 3 cycles we were told we would get more investigations and then potentially be allowed 3 more cycles before moving to IVF. For us, there was no issue with DH, it was purely an ovulation issue with me.

thislittlebird · 29/10/2021 13:47

@Emmyanddreams thanks! If I’m honest I don’t think it will work, we’ve never conceived once in two years, we don’t have any kids and I’m 38 so I’m very anxious. I want to move to ivf because I feel like we need the help to achieve the basics.

We did this privately because we thought our nhs round would be this side of Christmas but seems not 😔, so we decided to do three cycles of Letrozole, December/Christmas off and then start in the new year. Hopefully with our funded round but we can’t wait any more, if they delay further we might just go private.

Your lubion and progesterone should help. I have low progesterone but tested it this month on the Letrozole and ovitrelle and it was 108 (it was 10 last time it was tested on a natural cycle 🥴) so you should get a natural boost from the medicated ovulation too, this was with two follicles, but I’m sure it will help you.

Emmyanddreams · 29/10/2021 14:36

We've gone private too as we wouldn't qualify on the NHS as we've already had a child.
Three months is the plan as it's already been a long time but we're reluctant to go down the IVF route if we don't fall pregnant again and get to test whether all the extra progesterone etc makes a difference.
We've had the initial MOT's and on my side it all looks good except the low progesterone. In the past two years we didn't get a single line on a HPT until I was given progesterone suppositories in May. Since then we've been pregnant three times but only until 4.5-5 weeks so it seems like progesterone was definitely the issue but the dose was too low. I was only on 400mg progesterone a day, now I'm going to be on 800mg cyclogest and 25mg Lubion, plus obviously the Letrozole and trigger shot.
My OH has low morphology but I think because his count is high this isn't the issue.

@thislittlebird I really hope this cycle works for you, but if not you have success with IVF. It's so hard when you try so hard and it's just disappointment after disappointment. Especially when it seems so easy for other people.
