What is the difference between a chemical pregnancy and an early miscarriage?

Cruz86 · 17/10/2021 21:55

Sorry to hear about af @Coco9910. Only you know what feels different so it could well have been a chemical if it's heavier and more painful.

So sorry @Nailingnow. Thinking of you, look after yourself xx

Squiff70 · 17/10/2021 21:56

@Nailingnow my understanding of a chemical usually is when you test positive early on and the line fades after a day or two. You then have a 'period' as normal which may or may not be slightly heavier than normal.

An early miscarriage is a miscarriage very early on. In my opinion within the first few weeks.

If I'm wrong here somebody please correct me but that's my interpretation from experience and reading hundreds of threads on here over the years.

Tefiti3 · 17/10/2021 22:32

So so sorry @Nailingnow, I have been there and its really hard, hope you are feeling as okay as can be. Flowers In my opinion chemical pregnancies are early miscarriages. The presence of HCG means that you were pregnant, even for just a short amount of time. Really sorry again.

Bubblyunicorn · 17/10/2021 23:18

Girls when is it best to do ovulation tests I'm new to them and so confused haha

Bubblyunicorn · 17/10/2021 23:31

@Nailingnow

Thank you so much - it means a lot. My husband seems to think I mis read the pregnancy test Hmm and doesn't seem to get it.

You guys saying those nice things is really appreciated Thanks

So sorry hun, lots of hugs n love. I had a chemical last month Sad here if you need a chat xx
BH1926 · 18/10/2021 00:51

@Nailingnow I'm so sorry 😒 hope you are okay. I'm currently going through a chemical too.

@Bubblyunicorn can I ask how long you bled for with chemical? I started spotting on Sat and then heavy bleeding Sunday with clots (sorry tmi) but as day went on very little. I was expecting it to be more like period as I'm normally heavy first few days.

Be grateful for any info on experience with chemical pregnancies as everything I've read totally differs. Do I test again to see if it's negative or just leave it? Will my cycle be changed now? Sorry I'm just confused with it all. Xx

BH1926 · 18/10/2021 00:59

@Bubblyunicorn I test from cycle day 9/10 my cycles normally 28 days. I use the CB advance digi and CB have a thing on website if you have shorter/longer cycles and it gives you a guide on when to test. Xx

Lianna93 · 18/10/2021 03:18

@BH1926 So sorry to hear about your chemical.
I'm almost certain I had an early miscarriage in August. My periods have always been irregular & painful but manageable but my one in August was so out of the ordinary for me & from speaking with people & my nurse, I've been told I likely miscarried that month.
I was in agony with mine, I had the usual cramping with AF but it felt more extreme. My lower back was in agony and I had pain that travelled down my legs.
I had an unusually heavy bleed with clots and I was bleeding through everything - this went on for about 3 or 4 days before it eventually calmed down.
I had a period 4 weeks later & it was absolutely fine, just like my normal ones, except it arrived earlier than normal.

I miscarried as a teenager but other than a really heavy bleed with clots, I can't remember a whole lot about that.

@Nailingnow I'm sorry to hear about yours too :(
I hope you're both okay - thinking of you both πŸ’•

Hi @BH1926
I had a chemical on my last cycle.
Found out I was pregnant Sept 12th and got a negative test on September 19th. The bleeding started the next day.
My bleeding lasted 4 days, 3 of which were very heavy. Weirdly, 4 days is shorter than a normal period for me, I'm always 5 days usually.
In terms of ovulation after a CP, I don't track but I had lots of ewcm and O pain around CD9/10. I'm now pregnant again.
Hope this helps xxx

Mummybearto3bg · 18/10/2021 07:52

Hey all, if tests are coming back negative after a faint positive and I'm 8 days late for my period. How long do I leave it before I go to the doctors to get something to bring on a period? I'm not sure if that's even a thing?! Thanks x

Mummytobe93 · 18/10/2021 08:04

Morning!

Sorry to hear about chemicalsπŸ˜” I wish everyone best of luck in the new cycles!

@Mummybearto3bg I’m sorry to hear that lovely, I’d call my doctors today even - I’ve read that you should do so when your AF is late or early more than 7 days. I’m sure what they’re going to do, but for example I’d like to know what my progesterone levels are, because it needs to drop for the period to start. So if you’re 8 days late that means it’s not dropping for some reason, and with negative pregnancy tests it’s better to check, in my opinion. Are your cycles regular?

I woke up still feeling a bit rough, and stressed out to be honest - the reality of my wedding being so soon hit me this morning, I’ve still got LOTS to do & pay for. So I didn’t want to add additional stress with seeing a BFN (or BFPπŸ™ˆ) this morning.

I’ll wait with testing until Wednesday when it’s the earliest that AF could arrive. Today I’ve got some hip pain & slightly tender breast - the hips could be form all the dancing on the weekend and boobs just PMS…

Hope this week brings more BFPs, I believe in your girls!
Who’s testing in the next couple of days??πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€

Xxxx

Firsttimetrier · 18/10/2021 08:16

Morning @Mummytobe93 I’m going to test on Friday, although I think it might be too early, as my husband is away for 4 days and he’d like to know beforehand.
Pretty sure it’s going to be a BFN as I’m getting my classic pre-period symptoms (tiredness and a few spots) and we didn’t DTD enough around ovulation.

Danani · 18/10/2021 08:23

Good morning all!

I'm so sorry for those of you who got AF, or who are experiencing a miscarriage. :( TTC can be so cruel! I'm so sorry that you're going through this. Sending you all a big big hug!!!!

@Elsols93 I can definitely see a line there!! Maybe give it a day or two a re-test with FRER or CB, just to confirm? But things are looking good, lovely!!! :)

@Mummytobe93 impressed you haven't tested! Well done you! I can completely relate with the wedding stress, but when it gets too much, just remind yourself that (hopefully) this is the first and last time you're planning your wedding, enjoy the process! And also, it will be so so so worth it at the end, when the day is finally here! Also selfishly, a project like a wedding is bound to take your mind off of the dreadful TWW! :)

8/9 DPO for me today. My boobs are the absolute worst, like literally a tight bra is the only thing that helps, I'm even thinking of wearing one to bed! I've been having some creamy CM (sorry for the TMI) which is not something I can say I've noticed the last cycle...I'm usually more on the dry side unless I get EWCM. So that's a bit different. My BBT...I don't know what to tell you Grin. We've established I cannot be trusted with it, however yesterday my temp shot up by almost a full degree from 36.12 to 36.93 C, and today is high still at 36.84. Not going to read too much into this, because it has been, and I cannot stress this enough, all over the place.
AF is due between Sat and Mon, depending on which app I check. I'm not planning to really test early, unless....I'm weak, in which case I might test on Friday, when I will be 12/13 DPO. Blush

Hope everyone has a nice week, take care of yourselves ladies, love yourselves a little extra right now!

Hopefully, we have some more good news over this and next week! Even if it's not my personal success story, it makes me so happy seeing it happen for you. I know it will eventually happen for all of us. :) Stay strong!

Danani · 18/10/2021 08:25

@Firsttimetrier nonsense! I remember you babygirl, you DTD plenty! You're good, you're covered, don't worry about that now!
Now you just need to wait out the TWW... I might be testing on Fri too! How many DPO will you be then, again? :) Fingers crossed!!!

HRHXO · 18/10/2021 08:50

Good morning all, I finally got a flashing smiley face on my OPK this morning! We DTD yesterday and are going to try DTD every night this week if we are up for it as I just have a good feeling about this month after 6 months of nothing at all and not even being sure I ovulated!

How is everyone feeling today? There have been some ups and downs over the weekend and I hope everyone is doing alright.

Mummytobe93 · 18/10/2021 08:51

Oh that sounds promising @Danani ! Your temperature rise along with CM, it really does sound good to me! 🀞and thanks, I really hope (for many reasons 😹) that’s it’s the first and last time I’m planning a wedding.
