Checkin cervix but can feel poop in rectum

Hi all,

I'm kind of mortified asking this but it's something I've only recently noticed since I've started checking my cervix position as TTC. I'm curious if this is the same for everyon...

When I check my cervix, sometimes I can feel poo in my rectum but I feel it kinda pushing into my cervix through my pelvic floor I guess? It happens when I'm constipated or if I check my cervix just before needing to poop.

Has anyone else noticed this before?

Yup, you're not alone. It makes sense given how close everything is in there. It's just one of those weird things I guess!

Me!!
I was having a feel after having my baby and I got the fright of my life 😂
Took afew mins to register what it was, went to the toilet later that day and thought I'd check afterwards and of course it was that

Not being smart but where else would your point be? It’s stored in the rectum.

The rectovaginal septum separates the rectum and the vagina- it’s not a very thick wall.

Had a healthcare professional advised you to check your cervix? Sounds like a shortcut to infection.

Poo, not point.

I have checked more cervixes than most ( GP) - there is always poop in the rectum!

On my ibs group the constipation cure reccomendation is what we refer to as "get out and push" as in push from your vagina with your thumb to encourage things along

Erm yes exactly OP. That's exactly where it should be?

Really? As long as hands are clean you’re fine to put fingers inside your vagina. Penises are not sterile, and newborn babies fairly frequently covered in actual excrement. Vaginas are pretty resilient.

It's normal, and its also normal and harmless to check your own cervix. No need to worry about anything x

Thanks everyone! I guess it does make sense I just wasn't expecting to feel it through the wall of the cervix but it's good to know it's normal!! I have been checking cervix position to help with predicting ovulation!

Thanks everyone!
