Secondary estrogen surge or late ovulation?

Hello!

Just looking for a bit of advice/insight from someone who may have been in a similar situation. Bit of background, I was diagnosed with PCO 5 years ago but haven't had them checked on in that time. I have quite irregular periods with my last being 19th September and ended 26th September.

I believed I ovulated around the 30th Sept/1st October but I am now showing more signs so I am unsure whether this could be the "secondary estrogen surge" or whether I was unsuccessful in releasing egg last time, and am now attempting to again.
28th - Flashing smiley, unfertile mucus.
29th - forgot to test
30th - Solid CB advanced (purple and pink) and negative IC. Cervix soft and high(ish), wet/lotion like CM.
1st - Gummy/sticky CM. Negative tests.

I had no fertile mucus, sore breasts etc whereas after my last cycle where I did Ov I had sore nipples the day after. Worth noting chance of conception from above is minimal as only dtd on 27th.

Fast forward to yesterday (8th) I had a fair amount of EWCM. I had a very wet feeling all day and checked my cervix - high and soft again. I did a CB and it was a flashing smiley, negative IC.

I still have EWCM today, negative boots Ov test but no more CB until tomorrow so cannot check. I felt some movement in my uterus area but more niggles/twinges rather than pain. My cervix is still very high and soft. I have no breast pain but breasts do look more veiny.

I would assume I am not ovulating (or going to ovulate) as surely boots test would be positive if so? I have checked my calendar from last month and around 8/9dpo I was very dry and had low hard cervix the entire time. I have googled which has suggested a secondary estrogen surge, does this cause EWCM/high soft cervix? Unsure whether more likely to be I did not ovulate before and am trying again now or whether it's the surge.

Interested to hear people's thoughts if they would not mind. TIA! X

I have a second estrogen surge and get it's of ewcm at ovulation on day 15/16 and then less ewcm at day 21. I don't have PCOS but I have found monitoring my BBT really helpful for knowing exactly when I have ovulated because you will see a three day temperature rise above 36.4 for three days after ovulation and I get a temperature dip the day before ovulation. I also get a temperature dip on day 21. Some months I don't get ewcm just watery ewcm and I can still see when I ovulated from my temperature - I use OPKs too and they match up with my temperature monitoring. Perhaps it might help?

I would second bbt but in the meantime yes estrogen is the cause of both flashing smileys and ewcm so would be in line with a secondary estrogen surge.
