How am I supposed to trust FRERs after this? 😔

You can’t see the top line very easily but it’s definitely there! Both lines are pink in real life.

I got these FRERs last Thursday, but AF arrived on Sunday. Sad

How am I supposed to trust a pregnancy test again?

Also I am looking on threads here and so many others are posting identical tests, they are being told they are positive? But clearly that may not be the case?

It is heartbreaking, I really don’t understand how they can advertise things that are so wrong.

Without wanting to sound insensitive it would seem you had a chemical pregnancy/very early miscarriage. It's very unusual to have a false positive as the tests pick up the pregnancy hormone hcg. I always find it best to wait until you've missed AF then it's less likely to lead to disappointment and false hope.

They do both look negative. I’m sorry.

wavecatcher · 08/10/2021 12:05

I would honestly see this as it's an early chemical pregnancy. Some hcg was present, faint lines but it didn't stick.
I'm really sorry, try testing when your period is late as it's a less upsetting I think.

I’m sorry Flowers

My doctor recommended not taking tests before AF was due for this reason. The tests aren’t wrong, so to speak - they’re detecting hormone - but it’s a really low amount; and it’s not continuing. It’s a chemical pregnancy. He said knowing that rarely benefits anyone, so he strongly recommended only testing after AF hadn’t turned up on time. He also recommended swerving the Clearblue date prediction ones, which are for “entertainment” only and have meaningless HCG levels, and he said caused a lot more stress than they’re worth.

It was hard, but I stuck to that, and thankfully I’m now 30 weeks pregnant with the only positive I’ve ever got.

All the best to you x

Chemical pregnancies are thought to happen in up to half of all conceptions and often you don't know. The egg is fertilised and you produce enough hcg for an early and faint pregnancy test but implantation isn't successful and your period appears on time or v slightly late.

This is one of the pitfalls of early testing and it feels absolutely wretched I know.

chasingtherainbow1 · 08/10/2021 12:15

It's not necessarily always a chemical. I had this exact problem last month and had a blood test in between and hcg was less than 1. So it wasn't a chemical, just bad indents.

I've used FRER in the past and never had these line when negative before. They've just gone majorly downhill I think

Gosh, thank you all.

Perhaps there is some good news amongst the sadness; at nearly 39 and 42 we have been able to make the sperm meet the egg, at least!

Every stage of this journey seems fraught with pitfalls. The statistics are quite unbelievable once you start researching them. I never knew.

I'm 41 and pregnant, keep trying and don't let reading too many negative stats disappoint or deter you. A positive mainframe is best, Best of luck

I’m sorry you had an early pregnancy but at least you know you can call pregnant. Fingers crossed for next month for you Smile
