Implant removal and normal cycling

How long did it take for your body to get into a normal rhythm again with your cycle after having the implant removed?

I got my implant removed 10/8 had the smallest bleed on the 30/8. Still haven't had AF (she was due Monday) I'm getting bfn so not pregnant. I was trying to do ovulation tests but never caught a peak (or anything tbh) but I didn't really know what I was doing.

Basically im super annoyed with my body but also scared.. I was on contraceptive implant since 2016. I'm scared I'm going into pre menopause or something. I'm sure my mind has just gone into overdrive but my biggest fear is not being able to have children and now I am actually at a place where we are ready for them I just want them and am impatient.

So ladies does this sound quite normal for it to take awhile?

Following this thread!

Im currently in the same boat. Had implant removed on the 6th, had a bleed on the 10th which lasted a good few days and now nothing. I have been getting some period cramps over the last couple of days but no periods. Currently taking a pregnancy test on a weekly basis until AF returns (or a BFP) it's definitely frustrating!

Hi! I had my implant removed in 2017. It only took a couple of months to get back to normal. Don't worry about going into menopause. If anything the implant will delay menopause because it often stops you from ovulating, which my doctor says helps preserve your egg count :)

Hi @Leibee87
I have just got a positive pregnancy test. My depo ran out July 2020. My period took a while to get back to normal only started getting a normal 28 day cycle from Feb 2021. I too had the same worries your having. It just takes time x try to be patient I know it isn't easy xx

Not much helpful to add as I had mine out 8 days ago (though it should have been removed in May!).

Did you guys continue having periods while on the implant? Mine have been regular as clockwork the full 6 years. Was 2 weeks late this month (due to vaccine, I think) but finally arrived a few days after implant removal.

I had always been told things went back to normal 24 hours after removal, but the stories online seem to suggest that’s not often the case. Which is frustrating.

Sorry - more a “I’m in the same boat” than anything useful I’m afraid…

@Digby86 mine completely stopped except spotting after my second covid vaccination. Finally came on today whether it will be normal or not I don't know but hey atleast it's something in the right direction.

I have heard so many stories now about it taking ages wish I was told that before hand. I would probably of got it out earlier.

Whilst I was in my implant my cycles were very irregular and were generally over 40+days. Had my implant removed beginning of feb, and had my period 3 weeks later, and ever since the I'm in a very regular 30 day cycle. I was very happily surprised it shortened and settled so quick, but I must admit I'm still disappointed that I've been trying 7 months now and no BFP, not even a little faint possibility of one

dmb91 · 08/10/2021 19:17

I had mine removed 2nd July, had 2/3days of light spotting after 7 weeks but nothing since then, it's now been 14 weeks since removal
🤞 you guys don't have to wait as long as me!
