So basically I ovulated 24 days ago, period was due 1 week ago tomorrow but still a no show. I have done multiple “first response” tests since last Monday including one today which is negative. I kept getting the feeling my period was on its way last week and my cervix was low but still hasn’t come and my cervix has now gone into a high position. Anybody ever experienced this? I have suffered with a ruptured ovarian cyst 10 ish years ago and I’m scared to death it’s something like that or more serious Confused

I'm sure you've thought of this based on your post but are you absolutely sure about your ovulation date? Do you track using BBT or just ovulation strips? If there's a chance you ovulated later than you thought you might not even be late for your period yet.

Yes hundred percent ovulated then I was using the clear blue ovulation kit, even took a picture of the solid smiley for my sis in law x

I've never used the clearblue kit but don't they just detect LH surges? It doesn't necessarily confirm ovulation I don't think so there's a possibility you just had a false surge without ovulation. Have you tried testing for ovulation again since then?

The feeling of your period on its way could be the same as early pregnancy symptoms or implantation. Wait until another week or so passes and do another test, if negative and no period the go to the GP and get them to do a HCG blood test. Its more acurate and can pick up lower levels.

No not tested again for ovulation. Usually my periods quite regular it’s never been a whole week late maybe a day here of there but never a week x

I have had cycles where I thought I ovulated (smiley face on a stick), but then period didn't turn up. Took various pregnancies test - all negative. Period would generally turn up next cycle (so day 56).

I actually got pregnant with my first in that situation. Took loads of pregnancy tests as thought period was due, nothing happened. When it didn't turn up=about 6 weeks later I thought I would just do another pregnancy test before booking doctors appointment and it was positive.

I had to go for an early scan to date my pregnancy as I hadn't a clue when I had conceived.

Mrsrmcc · 06/09/2021 17:03

You reckon i could still have caught? I’ve just completely wrote it off in my mind now for yet another month Blush x

You won't have ovulated. If you ovulate then you will either bleed 12-18 days later depending on your luteal phase or you are pregnant. You can only confirm ovulation via ultrasound or via temping. The sticks don't confirm, only suggest you are preparing to ovulate, and they just aren't accurate for some people:

Mrsrmcc · 06/09/2021 17:05

Oh really? That’s such positive news I thought this month was just another write off!! I wonder why it never showed up on your pregnancy tests? X

You could have ovulated late so might still become pregnant this cycle. But you almost certainly didn't ovulate 24 days ago if you've had no period and negative tests.

FlowersinJune · 06/09/2021 17:09

@Mrsrmcc sorry didn't I must not have explained myself. So in my case I thought I ovulated say day 18. Day 32 came along and I do various pregnancies all negative (cause I wasn't pregnant).

I then must have ovulated some time after Day 32. So when I tested at Day 86 I got a positive, but I wasn't 12 weeks pregnant (as I would be on dates) I was only 7 weeks.

ButFirstTea · 06/09/2021 17:13

One way or the other I don't think you ovulated when you think you did. As pp said, you can't be 24DPO with no period and no pregnancy, the longest luteal phases are 16-18 days long. So you may have ovulated sometime in the last 2 weeks and caught it or you may just have to wait for your period to arrive and start again.

Would highly recommend BBT as you can pinpoint your day of ovulation and confirm whether or not it happened each month.

I was reliably informed by my doctor that I had not ovulated that month (was having fertility tests and the day 2, day 10 blood tests as pre cursor to starting ivf). Readers - that egg is off to university next week!!
