Hey Everyone

So, I had unprotected sex on Thurs 12th and what I think was implantation bleeding on Sun 22nd. I’m not sure how long my cycle is because I’ve been on the combined pill, but was late receiving my pill packet so missed the first two.

How long should I leave it until I do a pregnancy test?

What is the earliest you’ve tested and had a positive result?

Thank you 💕

It doesn’t sound likely you’d be pregnant from missing a couple of pills, but a test would show now really if you were.

Hi @Concerned22! It depends a lot on your individual cycle. The shorter your cycle the sooner you can test. If you don't track your ovulation with ovulation sticks or temperature you're normally calculate with a 14 day luteal phase, so that means 14 days before the start of your new cycle is your predicted ovulation date. Most pregnant women will get a positive result after 12dpo, some even earlier, some later.
The thing is, if you don't know how long our cycle is, you don't know when you potentially ovulated. So I think I'll invest in a couple of cheapie tests and testing every other day until you either got a positive or your AF arrives.

Oh sorry I misunderstood.

But surely if you’ve been on the pill you won’t have been ovulating.

Bundaberg84 · 27/08/2021 21:03

@SmidgenofaPigeon eh, I think I misread as well. I thought she's off the pill the first month.

Hey everyone. Thank you for your answers. I spoke to the doctor and she said because I missed the first two I could have ovulated within the next 7 days and as I had unprotected sex I could be pregnant. I also had what I think could have been implantation bleeding as I had no reason to get break through bleeding on my pill (photo attached) and if I ever do get breakthrough is brown not pink. Dr advised I do a test soon but I wasn’t really sure how soon and didn’t think to ask until after the phone call ended! Silly mistake I know!

Ive had breakthrough bleeding when I’ve missed a couple of pills in the past. Implantation bleeding from conception isn’t really all that common.

Because you don’t know if/when you have ovulated, as a general rule a test 3 weeks after unprotected sex will give you your answer. In terms of the earliest you could get a positive test result, anytime now is possible - just doesn’t rule it out if BFN because you don’t know when you ovulated. Hope that helps, good luck
