Did you think your period was coming before BFP?

Hi all,

I've been TTC since May 2020 (didn't have periods until June 2021 so this is my second cycle of TTC where I actually might have a chance). According to my tracking my period is a day late now. Yesterday I had cramps and was sure AF was coming but it didn't. Today I have a faint backache but the cramps have stopped and still no AF. I don't dare test because I don't want to see a BFN - I just wondered if this happened to anyone else before their BFP or how long after AF due date you tested.

@ellecf Yep with my last BFP i was convinced AF was coming, cramps were exactly the same, I waited 2 days after AF to test because I had a previous chemical. I got my BFP unfortunately it ended in MMC but I remember saying to my OH before I tested that AF was on the way. Good luck

Yep and the whole 5 days when I was due on my cramps felt exactly like a normal period just no bleeding. Only did a pregnancy test to rule it out 😂. Doc said it was normal

Yup! Previous month I was utterly convinced I was pregnant, and totally crushed when I wasn't.

This month, I was adamant I wasn't, and told DH a couple of days before period was due and said I could feel it coming. Did a courtesy test the day it was due, left it on the bathroom floor and got in the shower, midway through washing my hair I glanced over and saw a very definite second line - had a bit of a bambi moment in the shower!

Went to work in total disbelief and wasn't until I'd peed on five more sticks that night that I vaguely believed that it might actually be true!

Yes the evidence is on mumsnet for all to see, me bemoaning “I’m out this month” etc. First DC was an unplanned pregnancy and only took a test after having period symptoms for a week and no period. Seems I will never learn!

Yes, both times! I've lost count of how many pregnancy test I've taken, convinced that it would be positive, that weren't. Somehow both BFPs were a complete surprise to me, thinking I was already out for that month Grin fingers crossed for you

Still no period and still not pregnant Sadhonestly really starting to feel depressed by all this. I don't even want to speak to any of my friends because I can't convey how sad it makes me and I also fear their baby news catching me on a bad day. Ugh. Is there any hope?

I got a positive OPK on the evening of 31st July so we were at it like crazy. Then I got some EWCM 6 days later which is odd (had none round when I was supposedly ovulating), so BD then too. I just feel so at the end of my tether. It took me a year to get my period back after the pill (on metformin). When they came back I thought I might now have a chance but now my period isn't here and I'm not pregnant. Can't go for my further investigations till I have a period. Ugh sorry to be neggy. I just feel like I don't have anyone to talk to about it; I don't want to talk to any of my friends at all or see them until I know I'm pregnant which sounds really extreme but it's the headspace I've found myself in. No other women in my family have had a problem.

Hi, also been TTC since may 2020 but have had regular cycles. Now my period is 4 days late with period cramping but just tested and BFN. Not sure what's going on!

Sorry to hear you've had a hard time, FX for your BFP, or at least regular cycles.

Yep ! I was so convinced that my period was coming that I didn't test until I was 6 days late 🤣🤣 my periods can be a little delayed by a few days but I had all the signs of it's arrival so I thought it was just gone screwy.

Yes !!! I actually felt like I had the worst PMT of my life… honestly I felt murderous lol
I got my very faint BFP the next day !

I'm sorry, ttc is grim. You're not the only one, but it really does feel like it. I found groups like on mumsnet and Instagram really helpful. Hang in there xx
