Lines staying faint- 4 weeks pregnant

Hey! So I first tested positive on a clear blue at 9/10 dpo. Very faint but there. From 10 dpo to 15 dpo I’ve been using a few internet cheapies daily, and they’ve stayed really faint. The one I’ve taken today looks fainter than the rest.
I did another clear blue yesterday (14 dpo) and it is a lot darker than the one at 9 dpo (but probably not as dark as it should be?)

So now I’m totally confused.
Everything I’ve read on forums basically pointing towards chemical pregnancy. I’ve also had an ectopic in the past so very aware of that also.

I’m going to buy a first response tomorrow to see what the line looks like but I’m basically preparing myself for a chemical/ectopic. Typical timing as we go on holiday next Thursday 😡

Has anyone had any experience with faint lines and everything been ok? Why is it darker on the clear blue but not the other ones? Surely there would be some progression by now?

The clear blue are probably better than the cheapies and it sounds like you’ve got a darker one on them - plus you’re still only 14 dpo. There is no such thing as how dark a line should be at a certain dpo, a positive is a positive and everyone’s lines will be different. I honestly wouldn’t worry, enjoy having your BFP! There is no need to keep testing. If it was a chemical (and it doesn’t sound like it!) then you would soon start bleeding, testing won’t change the outcome. Good luck to you!

I was literally in the same position as you a few days ago. Very faint lines on IC at 15dpo, looking fainter at 17dpo.

Speak hours on the internet trying to convince myself it would be fine. Took an FRER just to see a stronger line.

But yesterday I started bleeding. I knew in my heart it was going to happen. Faint lines aren’t great and lines getting fainter especially isn’t.

I’m really sorry. I did find success stories in my frantic searching though. I hope everything works out for you, but it did help me to be prepared.

@charl881 thank you for the reassurance, I’ve always used internet cheapies with my 3 other pregnancies and they’ve always been reliable and got darker (even with the ectopic) I am using another brand this time so not sure if as reliable but I’m just taking it as a bad sign :/ I’m 16 dpo now so I think I’d expect a darker line, I don’t know. I hate the unknown! Thank you for your reply

@Elsie2021 just sounds so similar, how many dpo did you start bleeding? And was it a bad bleed? I just know I’m going to start when we go on holiday :( I’m hoping it won’t be much more than a period type flow.

Have you got a pic of the clear blue?

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 15/08/2021 08:41

I was the opposite to elsie.

I had faint positives (boots cheapies) that were not getting any darker at all. Some were def lighter. They were certainly not doubling.
(The multiple) Clear blue frers were giving me accurate weeks though.

I was so stressed and was utterly convinced i had blighted ovvum... i went for an early reassurance scan and it was all fine. The sonographer told me that those tests can be quite unreliable in terms of sensitivity.

Your clear blue is darker you are very early on. You have every reason to be positive. As impossible as it is try and relax Flowers

Pic of 9/10 dpo and then from couple of days ago. Definitely darker but not strong :( I wouldn’t even say it’s a proper line the way it’s dried.

That was how my line looked on 14dpo with my DS. It’s definitely a proper line!

Ellie1311 · 15/08/2021 08:51

@LivingLaVidaBabyShower Ahh that’s brilliant :) I’m just up and down with what to think. It could still be ectopic too as symptoms won’t show for another week or so. Just a waiting game but I just feel so down about it all.

Oh @Ellie1311, I know how awful this waiting and wondering can be. I don't want to be the one to add this but your updated test looks very much like an evaporation line and not a positive. I sincerely hope I am wrong and haven't added to your heartache Thanks

Elllicam · 15/08/2021 08:55

I think it definitely looks darker which is a good sign. Fingers crossed for you.

HurryUpAndWait23 · 15/08/2021 09:12

Hmmm they aren't great lines.
Hope it's a good outcome.

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 15/08/2021 09:15

Honestly i was surprised how stressful i found it.

In your shoes I'd get 2 clear blue frer one now (should be 2-3weeks?) Then the second to show 3 weeks plus so i can put me mind and rest and go back to them for comfort

After that PUT DOWN THE PEE PEE STICKS.

I was peeing on sticks daily and borderline hysterical which is totally unlike me. I then sropped that and started using this
datayze.com/miscarriage-reassurer
Which was much better for my sleep pattern

Ellie1311 · 15/08/2021 11:02

Thanks everyone. I did another IC and another barely there line again. (It’s clinging on but it’s fainter than 2-3 days ago) I’m waiting on some FRERs being delivered but I’m pretty much accepting the fact this is going to be a loss. Started with cramps today too. Now looking again at the clear blue I think it is an evap.

How long does it take to start bleeding with a chemical? If it’s an ectopic I probably won’t start for another week or two so at least I know what to expect.

I’m so gutted :(

Update: I’ve just started bleeding :( so end of the road. Looks like the fainter tests were a sign. Just got to hope it’s not ectopic now!

Flossy1982 · 15/08/2021 11:54

My Clearblue tests looked like that and my internet cheapies looked like a faint evap line - I was hopeful even though was 9dpo and just so happened to be having bloods the same day and they checked hcg for me which was zero so I know 100% they were faulty or evaps and then period came bang on time. I promised myself I wouldn’t test early again as I want a lovely no question line and no period but I caved last month & got totally obsessed with testing for 7 days before period came right on time. I’m now back in the zone of only allowing myself to test if no period. Wishing you well for next time 💫

charl881 · 15/08/2021 20:04

@Ellie1311 sorry to hear that 😢 I hope you are still able to enjoy your holiday.

Ellie1311 · 15/08/2021 20:41

Thank you @charl881, so far it’s just resembling my period with a stronger cramping. I’m not sure how long it’s meant to last for but hoping it may have eased off by Thursday. Holiday will probably now have come at the right time, at least I won’t be moping about at home :( thanks for your help xxx
