I’ve just received a positive result from a pregnancy test today.

I’m 4week+4 since the first day of my last period.

I’m 39 yo and I was set for a bit of a hard slog to conceive but, no exaggeration, I’ve conceived on the first first attempt and it’s caught us somewhat off guard.

I’ve been wanting another baby for years and 2 weeks ago we decided to start trying. I went and bought an ovulation kit the morning after to help us out and having tested that morning got the flashing smiley face. I read the very best time to conceive is 3 days before this so I assumed, unless incredibly lucky, I’d just missed the window for that month.

About a week after ovulation I just felt different, I bought some cheap pregnancy tests which all came back negative (obviously as I was taking them too early) but on Friday I was so sure that I did an ovulation test in the absence of any preg tests and it showed a smiley face.

I thought I’m either perimenopausal (which had been a huge worry for me and my fertility), about to have period or pregnant...I was certain I was pregnant. I even said no to a wine with lunch the next day which is definitely not like me!! 🤣

Did anyone else just know almost immediately? I’m now starting to wonder if there’s a chance it’s twins given mild symptoms had started in week 3...😆😆

Hello and congratulations Flowers

Yes I think I ovulated on a Saturday night/ Sunday morning. We went out the following Friday and I just knew. Didn't drink at all, OH asked why on the walk home and I told him I was pregnant. He rightly said there was no way I could know, but tested a week later and I was. Even weirder as this is my first pregnancy so it wasn't even a familiarity thing.

8 + 1 now and using this incident to further support my point of view that I'm always right 😅

Yes I did, I woke up the next day and knew, I think because it was my second baby! It was actually the one time we had had sex in a while. A few days later I told my mum and a friend that I thought I was pregnant and then 3 weeks after I had a positive test. Just over a year later I now have a 3 month old!

Good luck to you and the rest of your pregnancy.

Congratulations to you too, and yes you've totally earned that badge!

My hubby is in shock. We conceived really easily thr first time and my second daughter was conceived when my eldest was 4 months so iMm starting to think that our bodies are just super efficient at making babies together 🤣

I’m trying to stay grounded though as I’m 39 and know miscarriage rates are higher now I’m a decade older than the first time round 🤞🤞

Yes I knew - and also knew the ones that would stick - told friends and family at 6 wks - from the mc at 6 and 8 wks where I didn't.

WeGoAgain123 · 09/08/2021 12:14

I’m sorry to hear of your Mc, can I ask how you knew? I’m a little more stressed about that this time round as I read it’s a far higher risk at 40 (I’m 40 in October)

I have some mild constant cramping in my ab but I’m hoping that’s the normal stretching...
