Does a blood test 7 days before period, have to be 7 days?

Hi.
I had a phone appointment at the doctors about blood tests then receptionist called back for me to book the blood test 7 days before period. But at the time I wasn't exactly sure when that would be because I hadn't got a smiley on my tests but I booked it. So now I know the appointment would only be 4 days before my period (5th day period starts, 6th day would be full flow). I am struggling to change my appointment. So would 4 days be enough please?

Depends what the blood test is for. If it's for hormones then it needs to be 7 days before.

Ok thanks. I asked for some blood tests done cause I haven't been able to get pregnant. So I'm guessing for Progesterone

How long are you cycles? Progesterone is normally done on day 21 on cycle to check for ovulation.

I've just had those tests done.
I think yours sounds like the day 21 test for progesterone so it needs to done on d21 of your cycle.
The second test for fsh is on days 2-4 of your cycle so you get a bit of leeway with that one.

My cycle length is different every month (think my 2x covid jabs has changed the length last few months though). I was just told that I had to book it 7 days before my period. But Day 21 (Aug 6th) for me this month would be 5dpo and 8 days before period (Period should start 13dpo Aug 14th, full flow next day).

Day 21 (5dpo) would be 8 days before my period this month (My cycles are different every month, the month before last day 21 would have been two days before ovulation and too early).
