How long after delivery can you expect your periods to start?

Hi

With my last 2 preg. I stopped bleeding and 2 days later started my period. This time bleed for shorter time, but 5 weeks on still waiting for a proper period. Had a bit of a watery bleed last week then it stopped after one day, to start again yesterday, but still very light as normally my periods are heavy for first few days. Not on the pill as since birth of DS2 it doesn't agree with me.

Also to add into the issue my DH had the snip week after DS3 born, but not had the tests yet, and 'forgot' to use a condom a week last friday night . Last 2 babies only took one attempt to fall preg. So you can see my concern as not planning on any more kids.

Does any one thing this could be a normal period or an implantation bleed? I did a preg test yesterday which was negative (but could have been too early).

how are you feeding? you probably know that breast feeding can delay fertility?
Mine were 9mo with ds1 and 13mo with ds2.

I'm bottle feeding.

I would still think that 5 weeks is quite early though. Hope that everything works out ok.

Thanks although since birth it is now 9 weeks and both times previously I had had my first period by now. My main concern is the unprotected sex incident as the tests say wait until the day your period is due to test. When is the ideal time if you don't know when you are due?

I guess 2/3 weeks after the unprotected sex.
how old are the other children - if quite close maybe your body is telling you to slow down .

my period came back at 5 weeks last time, i think thats unusally early though.

If you are still testing negative 3 weeks after the sex then you probably got away with it
