Advice on progesterone suppositories and low dose aspirin

Hi everyone! I had a missed miscarriage in April and an ectopic in May. Both were awful but thankfully relatively straightforward (resolved naturally both times).

Due to my history I was put on progesterone pessaries and told it was fine to take low dose aspirin. This was all just a precaution as I hadn't been tested for anything. I've since had tests but no results. My consultant has gone on annual leave (argh, though I'm sure she deserves the holiday more than most!), so I'm not sure whether to resume the progesterone and aspirin immediately after I ovulate, or if I get a positive pregnancy test. Due to ovulate in a few days hopefully. Any ideas?

Hi

I have had 2 MMC and 2 chemicals. I started taking progesterone and aspirin when I found out I was pregnant last month, but potentially it was too late and I had a chemical.

This month I decided to try it from ovulation. I have been trying to speak to gynaecology to see if it’s the right thing to do & if it’s safe, but I couldnt get through to speak to them and they’ve cancelled my appointment. So I thought it was worth a shot anyway! I’m 8dpo and planning on taking a test next week

Hey, I'm on 400mg of progesterone and I've been advised to start two days after ovulation (I track my BBT) and continue for two weeks. Then to test, if it's positive to continue with progesterone, it's it's negative to stop and allow for my period to start.
However I have read about some women taking it from when they get a positive hpt so I wouldn't like to say for sure what you should do.
Is there not anyone at the clinic who could advise?

Just to add, I think waiting a couple of days after ovulation is advised just so you can ensure that you have ovulated. If you accidentally start taking before you ovulate then it could stop you from ovulating.

@MsK89 sorry for your losses. Like you I'm wondering whether it would be too late to wait until positive test, so I think I'll go for it. Good luck to you!

@Emmyanddreams Thanks so much for your reply. It's really helpful to hear what others have been advised. I did get a letter through today by email from my consultant's secretary and thankfully its a neg for clotting disorders so I don't think I'll bother with the aspirin. I'll start the pessaries again a couple of days after ovulation, like you suggest. It probably can't do any harm to start and then stop if I'm unlucky this month.

@weathervane123 I'll keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞
I've had a chemical pregnancy the last two cycles so I'm also hoping this month will be the month 🤞

Hi @Emmyanddreams that’s a really good point about being double sure you have ovulated first.
Because I have been TTC for so long, I feel like I know my body so well and can almost feel it happening. I took my first one the day after I ovulated and my LH level had gone down according to my sticks

@weathervane123 I had two previous miscarriages. First was a missed miscarriage. I had tests done, all ok. My consultant told me to take baby aspirin once I find out I'm pregnant. Found out I'm pregnant so now fighting for progesterone as I've read it can help but having to go privately so haven't yet started it.

Hi I've had 4 chemicals between 4+3 days and 5+5 days and a eptopic, all my blood work come back normal, the doctor said to start 400 progesterone pessaries 2 times a day and 75mg of asprin from bfp , I started using frer tests from 7dpo and when I got my faint bfp at 10dpo I got my prescription for the progesterone and started it that day plus the asprin, I'm now 8 weeks I really think the progesterone helped me good luck on your next pregnancy x

@Mylittleangel12 that's really positive to hear and sorry to hear of your losses.
I have had two previous miscarriages. One missed miscarriage at 5 weeks but didn't know until 8 weeks and the second miscarriage at 5 weeks.
I am not pregnant again (4 weeks & 5 days) and have been taking baby aspirin and progesterone since I found out.
I know it's early days and I will find it hard to relax the whole time but have no symptoms yet. Hoping to get some soon. I know some people don't have any symptoms at all or some don't start til later around 6/7 week mark. I have an early scan at 6 weeks (16th august) and praying everything is ok! If this pregnancy doesn't work out, we have to consider IVF. We have been trying for 2 years. X
