How hard is it to get pregnant?

Daft question I know, lots of variables.

I got pregnant in my twenties with my ds without trying, just a one time careless thing. Now, 10 years on I'm ttc with my now partner. I guess I mistakenly thought it would happen like that again but 5 months on, nothing.

In all honesty we don't dtd very often. Both have fairly low sex drives and maybe only do it once or twice a month. I have however tried to time this around ovulation. I track my cycles and have clear symptoms.

We need to be trying harder don't we? We've been quite laid back up until now and had a see what happens approach. Guess I'm just curious as to how long it took others?

I'm 36 and he's 46.

I'm now on cycle 13 and nothing! Not even a hint of a BFP. DP and I DTD 3-4 times per week throughout my whole cycle so certainly not through lack of trying! Sending baby dust your way x

Strange isn't it. So many friends seem to be getting pregnant on the off chance lately.

I think you should try OPKS/BBT if you’re not already so you can work out exactly when you’re ovulating and time sex accordingly. Lots of women assume they’re ovulating on a certain day but in fact miss it because we all ovulate at different points in the cycle.

@SkeletonSkins I did try using them but I must have got some cheap duds because hardly any from the batch worked properly. It just ended up confusing me more. I will try again though.

Ridiculously hard for me it would seem!
Was so naive to how tricky it actually is. Damn school putting the fear into us. I feel like I'm part of a small minority that hasn't magically fallen straight away without trying and it's a club I wish non of us where in!

When I was 18 I got pregnant just by my boyfriend looking at me! 😂 It was a one of time we didn’t use a condom and you guessed it! I ended up having a miscarriage though.

4 years later when we actually did start trying it took us a whole year, we had 3 miscarriages just before, one after the other, but the 4th one stuck. so I got pregnant easily but had trouble keeping them and getting to 12 weeks.

Another 7 years later it took us just 2 months to get pregnant with no miscarriages.

It was hard when we always trying but very very easy when we wasn’t 😂

I’ve never caught without actually putting my mind to it. Both times I gave it two months of just not using contraception then got impatient and started using ovulation sticks and caught straight away. I’ve got pregnant in total 7 times this way ( 5 miscarriages 2 pregnancies). I was 28 with my first healthy pregnancy and 37 with my last.

So we have two kids, just incase that wasn’t clear!

I’m 39 and got pregnant 2nd month trying in nov, miscarried that one in feb, tried again in March and got pregnant again, I’m now 18 weeks
We did dtd every other day in the fertile window. We also had our fertility checked, mine is normal for my age, DPs is “excellent” according to the clinic

@pansyparkinson41 we caught first month. Couldn't believe it! We used Conceive plus lube and seven seas conception vitamins after reading lots of positive reviews. Also drank a glass of grapefruit juice in my fertile window (NO idea if it works! But figured it was worth a go) DTD x4 times a week, every other day. Didn't do OV sticks or temp checks, just kept a track of CM 4 months prior to try and pinpoint roughly when I OVd.

Totally appreciate how lucky we are but wanted to mention it incase it helped anyone else. Best of luck x
