How can I lengthen my luteal phase?

It's only 6 days long! That's too short to get lucky isn't it.

My periods are super light too so I can't be building up enough lining to be successful.

Is there anything I can do to help lengthen my LP?

Hi Op,
I'm not a health professional but yes, 6 days is short. Since my periods came back after having my DD, my luteul phase is about 9 days and from what I have read, that is also short.

I have done quite abit of research and apparently taking the vitamin B6 can help lengthen your lutuel phase, but usually by no more then 2 days.

Have you been to see your doctor about it?

I'm sure vitamin C can also help lengthen it too xx

I havent yet as I haven't had good experiences in the past with health professionals (always end up leaving in tears from how they make me feel).

I did try B6, it caused me to have awful acne but did lengthen my LP by an additional day. Guess I'll try it again though, worth the acne isn't it.

Thank you for your reply btw

Have you just stopped hormonal birth control? It can take some time to regulate your cycles. Otherwise, go to your GP and ask for them to check your thyroid and prolactin. Prolactin isn't something they'll normally do in the first instance unless thyroid is off, but it's worth asking.

My LP unmedicated is 7 days. I went to the GP and got referred to fertility clinic but end result was them telling me to go private and/or come back when I was eligible for IVF. NHS really don't believe in LP defect.

Some people have reported lengthening their LP with vitamin C and B6. It did absolutely nothing for me. I'm now being treated by a private doctor who is the first I've come across who believes in LP defect and believes me when I say it's so short.

I'm not on any hormonal contraception. We haven't been trying for that long, recently started tracking my cycles using BBT and OPKs and that's how I spotted how short my LP is.

Was it much money going private?

The initial consultation was £250 and each medicated and monitored cycle has been £300, including medication.

Thank you, that is about what I had thought it would be. I'm going to give it a couple cycles, then see about finding a private clinic
