Covid vaccines and periods / TTC

I know there are a few threads already on this but I am wondering if people can provide a little more info as I am due for my vaccine but worried it will throw my cycle completely out and want to start TTC later this year!

  1. When did you get the vaccine in your cycle? What CD?
  2. Did you experience any issues with your next cycle? i.e. late / heavier?
  3. Do you still have issues or were they temporary?
  4. Which vaccine was it that you had?
  5. Anyone conceived when their period was out of whack?

Thanks in advance Smile

Hello, I don't know exactly when I'm my cycle I had my first vaccine but it was early June. I have had one period since then which was 4 days early, not sure if it's vaccine related but it was very out of the ordinary for me. I'm currently on CD 27 of my next cycle (usual 28 day cycle) and so far, no early period so fingers crossed it's back to normal (or I'm pregnant!!)
I've read that if it does effect your cycle, it should only be for one or two cycles. Not a long term issue.
Hope this helps 😊 x

Had my first vaccine jab (Pfizer) back in May on CD7. Normal cycle length, but super heavy period in May. Mine are quite heavy normally, but this was something else! It wasn't longer or shorter than usual, just very heavy. I didn't get a chance to see how my next period would be as I then fell pregnant. I'm now just coming up to 8 weeks pregnant and have just had my second jab. I've got a sore arm, but no other side effects so far.

Congratulations! That's good to hear, I've been hearing a lot of rumours about not being able to get pregnant after the vaccine but it's great to hear that it's definitely a rumour!
Forgot to say that my period wasn't heavier or lighter than usual 😊 x

Thanks! ☺️

I personally know other people who have also conceived after their vaccine too. A few of us had an odd first cycle/period after the first dose, but then it settled down to normal.

Thanks both for your replies Smile. It is a shame women aren't being informed a bit more on potential menstrual cycle side effects and we have to find out through one another!

Congratulations @Welshcake15 Smile.

@MamaSJ15 I have heard the same rumour loads and I do think it is causing women to be vaccine hesitant but I have heard of lots of people getting pregnant since vaccination so feel reassured.

I had my vaccine (Pfizer) on 12th June which would’ve been CD18. My period arrived bang on time on CD28 and was normal for me. It’s too early to say whether I’ve conceived this month but we will see. Hope that’s reassuring.

I'm a week late. Got my vaccine on the 29th and I know I ovulated

I had a hysteroscopy on the 23rd, not sure if that's causing a delay

laurini · 12/07/2021 17:58

Ah yes, I had my Pfizer vaccine before my last period. That period was a couple of days late (very unusual for me) and very painful but not heavier. Now my next period is due today but no sign yet. Hoping it's a BFP (cycle 6 for #1) as opposed to more vaccine side effects!

akwhdhdbaa · 12/07/2021 18:01

Had it mid cycle, no impact on period at all, not TTC so can't comment on that.

Lebe14 · 12/07/2021 18:11

I had Pfizer on CD19 after ovulation and it had no impact on my cycle. Having my second one around the time of AF so will see what it does to that!

NigellasMicrowave · 12/07/2021 18:39

I had my first dose of Pfizer on Day 6. Ovulation seemed to be late, my period was about 5 days late and heavier than normal. I’ve only been due one period since the first jab, so no idea about how long term this is, but I feel fine.

Wanttocry · 12/07/2021 18:42

I’m also TTC. I had my first vaccine right at the end of May, on CD3. Ovulation (according to OPK) seemed to come on time, as did my period, which was also totally normal. I’m now in the 2ww of my next cycle, and again ovulation came as expected.

Thanks everyone for taking time to respond.

There doesn't seem to be any pattern to it, so I am guessing it is just based on the individual. I will probably stress myself into having a late period!

Good luck to you all TTC, have my fingers crossed for you Smile.
