Day 33 of constant bleeding

Hi ladies

Really hoping someone will have experienced similar and can shed any light ...

Have been TTC first baby since Dec 19 with no luck. Investigations showed not ovulating and also make factor (2% morphology). Private clinic carried out the tests, otherwise seemingly good. AMH 32 and high sperm count and motility.

Was put on Clomid and fell pregnant in Dec 20. Discovered at 10/11 week private scan MMC (measured 7 weeks). Miscarried naturally a few days later and follow up scan showed all clear.

Barely any period since the MMC other than very light spotting until 5 June, when proper bleeding started and now hasn't stopped. It's a full flow "period".

We switched private clinics and the new consultant won't treat me for the bleeding as we aren't under his care yet (other than initial consultation). But he did say my AMH suggests I have PCOS (I just turned 40) and questioned why the previous clinic hasn't told me that (🙄).

The plan was to book in for HyFoSy and then proceed with IVF straightaway. I can't have the test until the bleeding stops, which seems like never. I've also now came out in dozens of spots across my forehead and chest (which I suspect is hormone related).

So, private clinic told me to go to EPU where I had follow up scan following MMC as they strongly suspect there might be retained tissue. EPU don't want to know, and GP said "get that out of your head, it couldn't possibly be retained tissue after all this time". That was the comment 2 weeks ago so I rang again this week and spoke to a different GP in the practice, who agrees it's not normal and is referring me for "urgent" ultrasound scan. I've also had other blood tests done and will collect later today (GP doesn't know what the results mean as he doesn't deal with this sort of thing).

Has anyone bleed for this long and with constant flow? Surely this isn't normal?

I'm beyond frustrated at this point. I just want to have the HyFoSy scan and prepare myself for IVF but it seems so far away because this bleeding doesn't seem to want to stop.

I've never had a period last longer than 3-4 days in my life. Where is the blood coming from?! Anyone?

@MimiArm I'm so sorry you're going through all this! I'm afraid I don't have any experience of this but I didn't want to read and run, and hope you get answers soon x

For fuck's sake if a bloke were bleeding for 33 days out of his arse the GPs would do something about it within the first 48 hours. Hmm Sorry I have no advice at all but just want to send you my best wishes! I'm glad the second GP is doing something about it.

MimiArm · 07/07/2021 21:53

@RoseGold24 @Tippexy Thanks both for replying.

I've said pretty much the exact same thing to DH numerous times - if this was a nosebleed, or bleeding anywhere else, it wouldn't have taken lots of phone calls and 33 days of constant bleeding for someone to listen!! The urgent referral was sent off on Monday so had hoped to have an appointment by now ... guess it will be next week at the earliest so another week of bleeding and this doesn't look like it's gonna stop without intervention.

I'm worrying that my ovaries are bleeding or something that will cause permanent damage and scupper our IVF. That might be medically impossible but it's what I'm imagining! Maybe it's cysts or polyps that are bleeding?! Guessing game 😩😩 xx

@Tippexy you're so right! It isn't a man's issue so doesn't get the same attention! Fingers crossed it's just "one of things" and treated soon x

No answers lm afraid. But l bled for about 6 weeks after IVF failed. Everyone just seemed a bit bored by it really. IVF clinic told me to go to my GP and my GP told me to go to my IVF clinic. GP reluctantly saw me, took a urine sample?! Lost the results and then that was it. Very unhelpful and wasn’t great for my anaemia

MimiArm · 07/07/2021 22:12

@EL8888 that's reassuring, thank you. Exact same for me, they all tell me to go to someone else. My Gp, two weeks ago sent off a referral for an urgent brain CT scan (wtf!) when I asked for blood test. Hospital rang me to confirm it and I was like "em. I think there's been a mistake".

It's unreal - cock up after cock up (no pun intended)!

@MimiArm no one seems that interested in this aspect of women’s health. As someone else said if my fiancé was bleeding for 33 days or 6 weeks lm sure he would get a world of interest!!!
