Does ovulating early effect the length of your cycle?

Hi all, I ovulated early this month I usually O CD14 but this time was CD12. I only just managed to catch this as I took an opk on cd12 evening and had my first ever dye stealer where the test line was automatically darker than the control and this was showing less than a minute after dipping
By adding this to my apps it’s shortened when my period should be due by two days
I know I shouldn’t rely on apps but just wondered if anyone’s experienced this?

Absolutely. Your luteal phase remains fairly static so the length of your cycle is dependent on when you ovulate. If you have eg a 12 day LP and ovulate on CD14 then you can expect a 26 day cycle - but if you ovulated on CD12 you'd expect it to be 24 days instead.

A pointer though - just because you get your peak on CD12 or CD14 does not mean you ovulated that day. It gives you a 12-36 h window of ovulation and most ovulate in the next 2 days rather than the very same day as the peak.
