As the title says... I feel like AF is never going to come and i feel hopeless...

Ive been using opks since cd45 and i got a 'peak' 10 days ago on premom app but doubt i ovulated as it only was '1' but thats the highest reading i have had. If it was correct i would be 10dpo but still bfn's!

I bought conceive plus ovulation support but havent started them yet... should i start now? Or should i wait for a new cycle? Feeling so down...

Hi @CTMcG, sorry you're feeling so frustrated! I had a similar experience after coming off the pill - very irregular and then a spell of no periods for about 3 months. Felt like I had tried everything and was just about to go to the doctor when af came back.

Have managed to get to a point where cycles are not perfect but much better and gradually shortened to a more typical duration, etc.

Can't say exactly what made af come back but some things that definitely helped were:

  • tracking cm, basal body temperature, other symptoms in detail made it easier to spot patterns and it felt less random;
  • diet and higher strength prenatal vits;
  • light exercise/lost a bit of weight;
  • time and patience (it has taken a good year to get regular cycles after coming off the pill).

I found 'Period Repair Manual' by Lara Briden really excellent in terms of demystifying periods. Never thought I would have regular cycles but things are so much better now.

Really hope you get sorted!

@saxifrage thank you very much for your time to comment!

My last cycle was 34 days and even the first af coming off the pill was only 45 days so 62 days so far in the cycle we decided to start trying on is so upsetting!

Ive lost 2st in the last few years and i will continue to lose more but i am so overwhelmed at what i should be talking. Im now 1.5 months into taking pregnacare before conception and dont know whether i should keep taking them, im afraid they have messed my cycle. I might stop them and take the ovulation support tablets alongside folic acid and see what happens

@CTMcG Flowers it's so tough and confusing! To be honest I think there's a lot to be said for trial and error and observing how you feel on different products/how they affect your cycles.

I haven't tried Pregnacare but switched to Proceive Max last month and I do think it's changed my cycle a bit. It seems to have shortened by a few days but also improved it so sticking with it for now.

Crossing my fingers for you - definitely check out Lara Briden's book or Instagram, I found her brill - really wish the info had been out there when I was younger and struggling with very long/irregular cycles. Had no idea it was all so bloody complicated when I came off the pill for ttc!!
