I want to avoid FRERs so what's another option?

I hate the fact they've got preset grey lines on now when they use to be the be all or end all of tests. I'm literally right at the start of the two week wait so have a while but what other brands are good or more so, what others are to be avoided?

Avoid anything blue dye.

Easy@home ICs are reliable and have 10miu limit so will detect almost as early as a FRER.

These from Ebay (specifically the ones with the Healthcare Bridge logo and not just any IC) have been as sensitive as FRER for me. Way better than any other early test you can get. Will post a photo in a bit.

This is from 9DPO of my current pregnancy (am 10 weeks now). Top is the Healthcare Bridge IC. Bottom is the mega-pricey CB Early Digi (supposed to be able to use it from 6 days before AF). Same wee used for both. Clear line on IC and when I did a FRER 15 mins later, a clear line came up on that too.

I've used One Step ICs before and they are shit - didn't get a visible line on one of those with this pregnancy until 11 DPO.

I have just got my BFP at 9DPO, wondfo was the only one that was a visible positive at the same time as FRER. It was quite faint so possibly difficult to see, but today on 10dpo is a lot more visible so I would definitely use them again.

Easy@home showed for me on the same day as FRER. Nothing at all on Femometer or onestep (supposedly 10miu, my arse) with same urine.

If you’re pregnant, any will do. It’s all the early testing some people do (and report back on) that makes pregnancy tests seem unreliable when they’re really not

NoCallerID · 17/06/2021 07:14

FRER might have a grey preset, but that's just what the dry ink looks like. Once it's wet it disappeared. I've never had an EVAP or indent line on a FRER when I wasn't actually pregnant. And after 5 losses and two successful pregnancies I have done a lot of testing. Like someone else said easy@home ones do detect pretty much as early as FRER however the line progression is not as obvious so it can be worrying if you're a serial tester like me.

toadstool32 · 17/06/2021 07:26

Thanks. I have no desire to test until/if a late period. I honestly don't see the point of analysing whether a line is there or not.

@toadstool32 I get that and thus true for many women. If I hadn't tested early for the last year, I wouldn't have known that I had chemical pregnancies almost every month, due to a condition called chronic endometritis which has no symptoms. It's everyone's own choice. And if you only test when you're late, a FRER will show a very clear line if you're pregnant, there wouldn't be any guessing.
