Hi - could someone tell me what this does that the OPK's don't do? I'm thinking of getting one - but they are quite expensive so want to make sure its worthwhile.
I read somewhere that they increase your chances ??

I am using one. The difference between the CFM and OPK is that it doesn't just read your LH surge, it also reads a peak in estrogen, which usually happens a few days before the LH surge. That way it "predicts" when the LH surge is about to happen, and extends your fertile period by a few days - i.e. it tells you that you are about to ovulate in 4-5 days and not just 24-36 hours. As sperm can live up to 5 days in good environments, it can help increase your chance of getting pg. The CFM gives you results of "high" (estrogen surge) and "peak" (LH surge) fertility. The CFM also has a memory that gets used to your cycle over time, and tells you which days to test. There is a website that tells you exactly how it works, you can google clearblue fertility monitor to find it. Am just starting 3rd cycle with it - still not pg so can't guarantee it works better or worse than OPKs! But I am also using the fertility awareness method and this really to double-check I get my ovulation dates right.
